Family Affiliations?

Hi everyone.

If you've seen my posts from before, this one takes on a different tone. I'm not feeling nervous so much anymore, but this time I have just a general question.

I am currently securing my recommendations for 2008 fall recruitment. One of the women who offered to write for me asked that I include the Greek organizations of my father and mother if they had been involved. I understand about asking my mother's affiliation (legacies and all), although my mother pledged but decided Greek life was not for her.

My question is about my father's affiliation. My father was Greek, and I have no problem giving that information to her, but I just wonder why she asked that? Does my father's affiliation have some kind of impact?

Thanks!

It's beneficial to know that a PNM's parent knows about greek life and is less likely to pressure her to drop out.

We can also assume a PNM has at least a basic understanding of the Greek system and the obligations required. Hopefully Dad shares that with his daughter, especially if there are no other Greeks in the PNM's life.

Another important reason is Dad should understand there are financial obligations.
