Barack Obama out of the race
Reuters - Word has come through official channels that Barack Obama has indeed decided to step down from running for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. Citing the hopeless delegate situation, his inability to secure votes in Ohio and Texas, and the urgent need to end bitter divisions and unite the Democratic Party ahead of the general elections, Barack Obama's campaign has said he is withdrawing from the race today "for the good of the Party."
Although most election analysts said that he ran an effective campaign, pundits have cited the effects of his ties to Dr. Jeremiah Wright as well as implications in the Resko case may have cost him votes in key states especially in places that are heavily favored to be Republican strongholds. Those two key events in March still have not sat well with many Americans although he started picking up steam in the polls. This news also comes as a shock to many after Obama gained endorsements last week by Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey and Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico.
No word yet has come from the Clinton campaign on reactions to this developing story.
A concession speech by Obama is due to be delivered at noon EST.

I also did a double take. I was thinking, "Why did I not hear about this anywhere else?"

That was a good one, DaemonSeid... no one around me "celebrates" April Fools' Day, so I haven't been expecting it... thanks for the jolt.
