To old to pledge?

I'm interested in joining a BGLO and I am 26 years old. Is that too old to pledge? I've had some things happen that kept me away from school for a while but I still want to be a member. Any advice?

I don't think there is really an age limit on pledging. As long as you are a current student at your college, you should be able to go out for a fraternity. Now, whether they will take you is another story.

Unless you're familiar with the intake and membership policies of BGLO fraternities, I'd refrain from dishing out any advice.

This has been discussed before but I can't find the thread.

The general answer that doesn't take into account chapter differences and other differences on any given semester: No, you're not too old to PURSUE MEMBERSHIP at the undergraduate level.

For more info, log off GreekChat and check out the national website membership FAQs for the organization of your interest. Then disconnect the internet and enjoy face-to-face interactions with approachable BGLO members who can tell you more.

Good luck.

Age limits are designated by the individual chapters. A guy in my pledge class was 29.

In all honesty, chapter operations vary from school to school and some may weigh more emphasis on your age but if that is the case do you really want to call XYZ members your frat/soror? BGLO's also seem to be a lifelong commitment with alumni showing their pride well into old age.

But as the lovely Lady Delta stated, I'd say speak to the members of that group and get a personal feel.

My chapter pretty regularly accepts new members who are older than the average college student the last year we have had two members who were between 22-24 and two members between 25 and 28 yo. We don't care as long as you don't give off the sketchy old guy vibe.
