I'm very new to gc, so color me ignorant. I know discretion is key, but do yall have to get on everyone who openly displays interest? I am not greek (I hope to be) but it seems to give the wrong image to get one someone like this. Not saying that he is in the right, but seriously???

Brother SelfProclaimed... you are absolutely right, discretion IS the key, however, there are many who proclaim to (want to) be and use the (org) name to spew disrespect... case in point... the brother IotaManToBe not only is disrespecting Iota by using profanity (on this thread), but he is also slamming other organizations... that is not cool. Many of our BGLOs (Black Greek-Letter Organizations) and "non" greek orgs (big up my MSU cousins-Groove Phi Groove) members try very hard to uphold unity amongst each other; so to see a person who wants to be part of one organization disrespecting another hinders us.
In your Greek Chat travels, you will notice many brothers and sisters who shows interest in a particular organization, some even go as far as stating which org they are interested in AND you will also notice that if the interest is respectful, then each frater and/or soror he/she encounters shows respect and a (somewhat) willingness to help them fulfill their dream. The age old adage still holds true, "Show respect; get respect."

That is so true. "Show respect, get respect." An bashing other orgs is definitely not showing respect. But in my so called travels, I have found that we are all cut from the same slice of cake, so why do we have to talk about each other negatively (GLOs)? It isn't right. Ultimately they all want to do the same thing.
And I thought discretion was just a personal thing. Why are you not supposed to say or announce what you wish to be or do. I understand that every once in a while a bad seed shows up, but what about the general public?

@Self Proclaimed - In a different thread, I asked "Iotamantobe" to PM me if he was sincere. He didn't. I do agree with you, but after making your intentions known, and someone from said organization reaches out to you, it is time to lay back in the cut and demonstrate respect for protocol. If an aspirant won't show respect for the prospect online, then I have no reason to believe he will show respect for the process on-line.

I understand. I guess it's just different on this side of the tracks. I understand general etiquette, but how to act. It just seems on the outside looking in, that some of the comments directed towards "Iotamantobe" were a little harsh. But at the same time, I understand where they are coming from. But you made perfect sense. It's just hard seeing that off-bat when I am not in your position.
