Smile Colbert Report and The Daily Show

Okay, so both of these shows returned this week. Does anyone know who is writing them currently? I mean...the writers strike is still going on, so I was just curious if anyone had any insight.

=]

Thanks & Have a WONDERFUL FRIDAY!

I watch both and my boyfriend mentioned to me that Steven Colbert is actually part of the writers guild so maybe he just writes his own or something?

in order to not violate the writers contracts, they cannot have any "scripted" material. So no monologues or other scripted segments. They can continue to interview guests or have field reports where questions are asked back and forth as long as the responses are not pre-scripted. Basically anything off the cuff is okay.

ETA: if you have heard about the Jay Leno "controversy" it is because Leno is part of the writers guild yet he wrote a few jokes/monologues for his show. Unless the show recieved an exemption, that would be against the guild rules.

Question: I watch The Daily Show fairly regularly but seem to have missed something -- does anyone know why they're now calling it "A" Daily Show?

I believe it's because since the writers are absent John Stewart felt that he was giving the viewers A daily show, but not THE Daily Show.

^^^Thanks, BabyPINK, I figured it was probably something to do with the writers' strike but just hadn't heard it for sure... I wonder if his writers are concerned that his show is still pretty darn funny...

I did notice that when Jon interviewed someone remotely (for real, not a fake) he yanked some papers up from under the desk. I assume that an interview falls under "news" or something and that's why he's allowed to have questions written down? Or was it more likely background information on the person he was interviewing?
