DG Convention 2008 in Palm Desert, CA

1. Is anyone going to this? I am thinking about it, since California is a bit closer to me than going to DC or Florida.

2. Even though Anchor Trader has now been dismantled, I wonder if they would sell DG stuff at convention?

The link is here:

More info is forthcoming in February 2008!

It's too bad Convention's not there in March...my parents 'winter' in Palm Desert!(and I use that loosely, they spend the month of March there).

I've been to the Marriott out there before; it's actually quite nice. And if any of you remember Saved by the Bell where Zach and Kelly get married in Palm Springs...that's the hotel (with the cute little boat that makes a trip around parts of the grounds).

It would be fun to go to Convention (for once), but alas my $$$ must be saved. I have 3 weddings in the next year (and I'm in at least one of them) so what little money I have needs to be saved up!

I went to Orlando in 2006 in place of our ATC...would love to go to CA this year, but since I'm not the ATC and haven't heard whether ours can go yet or not...I'm still undecided!

I'll be crossing my fingers!

I'm thinking of going as a "visitor".
I printed off the pink and yellow booklet and I'm also loving the "Shopping Outlets" excursion that you can sign up and buy a ticket for!

Bumping this because I'm going to be a volunteer at Convention. Anyone else decided to go?

Not going, but dukedg - have a BLAST.

I did volunteer at the San Antonio convention, and then again at DC. Both times I did Airport Meet-N-Greet, and it was so neat to meet the incoming delegates and visitors. We also met lots of other greeks and greek relatives by standing around with our shirts and signs. Including the few - mighty few - who would walk by with their noses in the air and state their greek letters as if ours were lower than whale poop. In San Antonio I also worked volunteer check-in a couple of days, and banquet set-up. I really don't think there was a bad job, though some were a LOT of work.

Enjoy it!

I was at both of those Conventions (as an ATC). I wonder if I saw you? Thanks for giving some examples of what you all did as volunteers -- I'm looking forward to a different perspective on Convention!

It would fun to meet everyone, but I don't know if I could hold my tongue if someone was rude to me. It's probably best if I don't sign up for that job...LOL!!

We didn't actually "meet" most of them. Most just walked by and said "Good Luck. I'm a XXX myself." The one I recall vividly looked at our shirts and signs, put her nose in the air, and uttered her sorority letters like if you weren't in that group, you were lower than whale poop. I kept hoping her nose was up so high she'd trip, but it wasn't to be.
