I'm a little curious about Junior Leagues. I'm doing some work with my local chapter this summer, and I've done research. I know in some areas of the South, it's pretty elite. I just had some questions about it, that I can't find. How old do you have to be to be a member? Is it always by selection process? Is anyone here a member?
Here in Charlotte you have to be proposed by and sponsored by at least one member. Then they get to know you, you do work with them, then you are decided on for membership. They have certain times of the year for members to bring in the ladies they want to sponsor (I think it is January). It is NOT as elite here as it is in many other southern areas. Charlotte has a high mix of Northern/Southern culture.

Read the book "A Southern Belle Primer or Why Princess Margaret Will Never Be a Kappa Kappa Gamma." It talks about the Junior League, and a lot about greek life (obviously). It's hysterically funny!
