I got mine pulled over spring break, fun! I kept an ice pack on my face for the first 3 days, nearly constantly. I took ibuprofin, that helped a bit. mostly, you just have to wait for the sucky part to be over though. i spent all day fishing the friday after i got it done, 4 days after, and I was fine. i just couldn't eat stuff like chips and popcorn for a few weeks. i got all 4 pulled at once. my sister has had 3 pulled, each separately, and is having the last one pulled the day after her birthday!

i only had 3, but i had them all pulled at once. i CANNOT stand ice packs, so i havent been doing that. ive been doing those warm salt water rinses or whatever though. it hurts to swallow, and i think that's what sucks the most about it.

Mine didn't hurt that bad after I got them removed. I did it my senior year on President's Day weekend and I was alright to go back to school that Tuesday. I got them removed on a Friday and on Saturday night I went out clubbing with some friends! Everyone has a different reaction. Some are in bed for a week while some are fine the next day. My doctor gave me codeine (some heavy stuff!). Just keep an ice pack on it constantly to keep the swelling down and take ibuprofen. As long as it doesn't hurt too bad, you should be ok!

Wow, after I got mine cut out, I was fine! Guess I was one of those lucky ones... no swelling and almost no pain.

I took the horse pills the doc gave me, which knocked me out. I know we kept ice on it a lot & I ate a lot of Jello pudding. You're almost out of the worst part already. Soon you'll be looking back & telling other people how it really wasn't that bad.
hope you feel better soon (you will )

GIRL I FEEL YOUR PAIN.
I had mine removed my freshman year of college. BOY WAS I IN TERRIBLE PAIN. All four of mine were impacted and one was so far up it was almost in my sinus cavity.
When I got home I slept for an hour and then my mom woke me up to change my gawz. HOLY HELL DID THAT HURT. All the pressure was released and then this throbbing pain took over. All I could do was spit blood. And those pills...hello, can we say HORSE PILLS.
Because my mother is a freak and works for an orthodontist...she took me off my pain pills the next day. I kept rotating heat and ice to make the swelling go down and ease the pain. A week later, on my way to school, I was in so much pain I skipped class and went directly to the oral surgeon's office. He just shook his head when I told him I wasn't taking my pills. Needless to say my mother learned her lesson...tis better to get addicted briefly to pain pills than to be in pain.
Also that thing they stuff in your opening...it tastes like CRAP. Mine would leak and almost burn the side of my tounge because it was so nasty tasting. YUCK.
Perhaps we're the only ones who have ever had such pain...but I'm sure there are others.
Good luck girl and just keep on taking those pain pills. LOL
PS. 3 advil work incase your mom takes you off of them. wink wink

I got all 4 pulled when I was 14-years-old! I guess that's considered young for it?
Anyways, I just tried to sleep it off as much as possible and popped the pills. Which painkillers did he give you? In my family, there's always a pill for what ails you! It baffles me that some people won't even take Tylenol or Dayquil. K, that was all pretty OT.
But I do hope you feel better soon Liz!

Well if it makes you feel any better, I had no swelling because my mom made me constantly keep ice on it. Also, I did experience some pain when I went to the dentist 2 weeks later and the hygeinist (sp?)TOOK OUT my dissolving stitches that hadn't dissolved yet! Ok, I'm no genius, but I do know that dissolving stitches are supposed to dissolve when your body is ready for them to (i.e. you're healed). Every time I brushed my teeth for a week after that, it hurt a lot more than it should have.
