Post Napster???

Is anyone missing napster as much as me? I can't make any more fun cd's to listen to before we go out now because they shut it down...so do any of you know about a new place where I can download songs?

Honeybee, even though Napster is "down" it is actually still running. You can still find songs on Napster if you look under only part of the title, you just have to be sneaky about it. If you still can't find songs, try Imesh.com, which I've heard is a lot like Napster. Also, I know that on CollegeClub.com a while ago, people were posting about Napster alternatives so if you have the time to search you may want to try that.

FYI:
you can still find everything BUT iMesh is in the processing of purging their search system for capyrighted material at the request of the RIAA

My friends were talking about it one day and one mentioned that you should try spelling the artist's name backwards...maybe you should try that?

Audiogalaxy's Satellite software is pretty cool from what I've heard.

LOL, that's why I've been dl-ing as many mp3s as I can!

Also, spelling the names backwards helps sometimes, but not always. Spelling it incorrectly or even shortening the name (for example-Deschild for Destiny's Child) has helped also.

iMesh is by far the best (for now), when they take that down though -

I'd say try hotline, it requires 'tracker' servers that feed other computers to you. If any of you are at school and have ethernet, it's very similar to the network there - a set of computers whose info you can leech. Lots of mp3s - and, of course, a lot of junk, pirated software, and porno that you have to sift through to get to the good stuff.

LimeWire isn't bad either - all media available, pretty easy to use, basically it makes gnutella graphical and easier to use. Try that too.

Anyway - hope that helps!

Along the lines of what Rob was saying, FTP sites are great sources of MP3s. They were out long before Napster and will always be around.
