Dream locations for Convention
pick a place you'd love to have Convention- not for any of the practical reasons i.e. central location or affordability etc. (I'd love to see a convention held here in America's Finest City but it'll probably never happen because the hotels are way too expensive in the summer!)
my first pick would be Asilomar which is a historic conference center near Monterey Bay, CA where they held one of the earliest conventions....
New Orleans would also be on my list because I've always wanted to go there!

I'll second New Orleans - that would be great! I love NOLA.

Vancouver, B.C.; Montreal, Quebec; New York, New York; San Francisco, CA; Miami, FL; or Las Vegas (can you imagine how much fun would be had?!)
(I'll admit I'm less-than-thrilled with next year's Cincinnati location)

My only thought about Cincinnati - you won't have to worry about attendance because conventioneers have slipped off to go have fun!

Very true - but it *is* baseball season. It could be one of the inner-league play periods and the Red Sox could be in town.

Baseball? What is this "baseball" of which you speak?

I love New Orleans and Las Vegas, but I look forward to going to any place that I have not been before.

Awww, shucks catiebug. I looked up their tentative 2008 schedule and it looks like the Reds will be out of town during your Convention June 25-29.

I'm sure Cincinnati will be lots of fun even if it isn't maybe the tourist destination of some of our dream picks!
But just for KchapterGPB...we can plan a little dream convention at the Hotel Del...(even with its haunted rooms!) or over at the Loew's Coronado resort- it's beautiful too! can you imagine it? A little shopping at Horton Plaza...margaritas in Old Town....and they sell chocolate dipped frozen cheesecake at the Coronado ferry landing. And Puerto Nuevo style lobster served at the banquet....that's deep fried lobster served with butter, tortillas and salsa!

Since we can choose anywhere, why not Hawaii??? I spent six months on the Big Island and absolutely loved it. If you're going to dream, dream big!

How about we go on a cruise and have business sessions while in between ports? I'd also really like to go to Dublin.

A trans-Atlantic cruise on the QEII and then a few days in London (and Dublin)!
We'll do all business/workshops while on the crossing.

In a perfect world, I would love to have it in Honolulu. Too expensive but I can dream!
I would go to Las Vegas, Seattle, Vancouver, San Francisco, Boston or San Diego.
Anywhere in the South is too hot...New Orleans in June/July would majorly suck. Way too humid!
