I don't know which sorority is at issue here. All of the NPHC chapters that Harvard students pledge are citywide or based at neighboring campuses like MIT.

I hope she was barred from membership for willfully participating in it.
Or, if she was post-pledged, I hope she was suspended or expelled.

It would have been more courageous if she had walked away in the first place rather than knowingly breaking the rules and complain when SHE couldn't take it anymore.
Look, I am not an advocate for breaking the rules AT ALL. But aspirants of NPHC organizations are very well aware of what the MIP rules are. As secretive as people believe we are, each organization lays out the rules on the websites.
It sounds to me like she went as far as she could, quit, and complained rather than being strong enough to say NO in the beginning.

I'm not going to condemn her for not being perfect. She's doing the best things she can do now which is to shed some light on this illegal and dangerous activity.
She was probably 18-19 at the time. She did what a typical kid that position would do -- she bowed to peer pressure. Now that she's more mature and realizes that what happened was wrong, she's doing something about it despite there being an enormous amount of pressure not to.
In my book, that takes a hell of a lot of courage. To admit you were wrong and face up to these kinds of serious consequences is pretty serious stuff.
