YES.

If you care enough about your recruitment, you'll stay far, far away.

You'll have lots and lots of fraternity parties to go to. Missing out on a few of them isn't the end of the world.

You're an adult so the decision is up to you but in all honesty, I'd stay far away from the parties at this point in time. Like OTW said, there will be plenty of opportunities to party with the guys later on in your collegiate career.

I would strongly suggest holding off on going out until recruitment is over. You will have plenty more chances to go out this year, trust me.

My reasoning is that sorority members will most likely be there too, and you don't want to end up doing/saying anything that might earn you a negative reputation.

You're an adult, so you can do whatever you want. This is just my advice as a sorority member who has seen things that happened at fraternity parties come back and hurt someone's chances in recruitment.

I'm suddenly having a flashback of a pnm who went to this fraternity party and proceeded to get so sloppy drunk by one of her fraternity guy "friends" that she ended up going on and on about how much she loveeeeed a certain sorority and then ended up falling down a flight of stairs on her face during her tribute to the sorority. Needless to say, she wasn't given a bid by anyone that year.

Moral of the story: If you are going to go to a party (and its really not a good idea most of the time) do not get drunk and do not profess your love to anyone, anything or any sorority!

Yes I would stay far away from them. You have the rest of your time in college to party it up at fraternity houses.
