Ted James, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, received his Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center in 2006 where he served as President of the Student Bar Association and Sub-Region II Director for the Southern Region of the National Black Law Students Association. Upon passing the bar examination, Ted declined an offer to work as an Assistant Attorney General and dedicated himself to the recovery and rebuilding of Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita by joining the office of Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco. In his capacity as the Governor’s Policy Advisor on Housing, Social Services and Community Development, Ted is responsible for researching, analyzing, and recommending public policy and best practices for foster care, workforce training, poverty reduction, and affordable housing. Ted was recently appointed to serve as a Junior Honorary Member of the Louisiana State Law Institute. He holds memberships in the Louisiana State Bar Association, National Bar Association, Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, and Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Inc.
