How do you calm your nerves?
I'm just curious, anyone who has any anxiety or gets nervous to a large degree - how do you go about calming your nerves? Or do you just wait for it to pass?

Repeating a song or chant over and over again in my head helps me.

Well I take a weekly Yoga class and a weekly Pilates class which seems to help not only with anxiety/stress, but with my chronic low back pain as well.
Other than that I take walks, read, and/or go shopping. I try my best to stay out of my pantry and fridge, stay away from the news, and I never ever call my mother or sister (it will make anyone's anxiety or depression worse!)

If I'm at "home" I'll drive short distance to the ocean and just sit, looking at the waves.
Now that I'm an inlander, I curl up with my cat who humors me.

I just wait for it to pass, which seems to take forever and a day.

This used to happen a lot when I performed speeches in high school. I pretend I'm an actress and that my part is to be someone who is extremely calm. No matter what I'm feeling, the audience can never know that I'm nervous, so I pretend I'm someone who's not nervous. A little unorthodox, but it gets the job done.

I drink Lavender Tea and place a few drops of Lavender oil in a nice hot bath and on my sheets and pillows.
This was Grandmom's remedy to cool us out when we were children and it still works for me today!

Just kidding. I usually do some guided imagery and deep breathing.

Read a book and watch TV, and have a glass of wine.
