A question about deferred recruitment
I honestly did try searching first.
When a school has deferred recruitment for first year students, but fall recruitment for others, how do they classify kids with a zillion AP credits or kids who did dual enrollment in high school?

Probably as freshmen. At my school, you couldn't declare sophomore standing until the second semester of your first year, no matter how many AP credits you came in with.
The idea is that incoming non-transfer students should at least have had the opportunity to go through FR (whether they actually did or not).

That makes sense. Thank you.
What about the dual enrollment folks? Probably the same deal?
Is it accurate to conclude that at schools with deferred recruitment it's easier to get a bid as an upperclassmen (upperclassperson?) generally?
Or is it the same type deal as some non-deferred recruitment in which often the only groups doing informal didn't get quota in formal AND in formal they're mainly looking for first years?
I'm wondering if basically girls who go to a school with deferred who have a lot of credits when they start pretty much need to go through their first formal opportunity or forget it?
ETA: Okay, how is it that when I searched for threads about deferred recruitment, no visible returns were threads titled deferred recruitment, but now, I've got similar thread links to "deferred recruitment" at the bottom. What am I doing wrong when I search?

At UVa (a relatively competitive Greek school), there is deferred recruitment in January. The only groups who have informal in the fall are the ones who didn't make quota.
Don't know about the AP credit questions.

Do they have AP credits in the sense of testing out of things (i.e. they don't have to take Freshman English) or do they have AP credits that give them an actual University GPA?
The first instance, it wouldn't matter. The second instance, they should be able to rush. Some of our sisters did that - the main thing was that they had a university GPA.
As for is it easier for upperclassmen to get a bid at a deferred school, the timing of rush really doesn't matter. SMU has deferred and it's obviously harder there than it would be at some schools.
If Frieda Freshman has a semester's worth of credits, I guess she could go through in the fall if she wanted to, but doing formal would probably be better.

At Elon, everyone was required to have 12 credits at Elon under their belt before they could go through recruitment. Students who have enough AP credits to bump their classification usually still classify themselves by how many years they have been on campus, which makes things easier. I was technically a sophomore when I entered college, but I stayed for 4 years so I could take extra classes, which I emphasized when going through recruitment.

With the AP credits, they don't have GPAs, but they actually have the credit hours, I'm pretty sure.
I guess like so much on GC; it [ETA: deferred recruitment and what it's like] depends on the campus.
