Phi Sigma Sigma sorority suspended
11:59 a.m., May 3, 2007--The Delta Eta chapter of the Phi Sigma Sigma sorority at the University of Delaware has been suspended by the University through spring 2011.
According to Kathryn Goldman, director of the Office of Judicial Affairs at the University, the sorority was found guilty of violating UD policies on alcohol, hazing and endangering the safety of others. At a hearing held by the Office of Judicial Affairs, students in the sorority admitted that such activities did occur.
The sorority, which occupies a house on University property at 301A Pencader Way, has 79 sisters and 43 new recruits, for a membership of 122. The chapter was chartered at UD in 1982.
