Update on Virginia Tech

The Fraternity has made contact with all of our collegiate sisters at Theta Chi Chapter at Virginia Tech, except for one sister, who we believe is assisting with the rescue efforts.

Alpha Gamma Delta extends its thoughts and support to those individuals affected by this tragedy.

Chapters or members who would like to send notes of support and encourgement should send them to the following address:

I am glad to hear that all of the Alpha Gam sisters are safe. (Though still saddened for all of the other individuals who were injured or killed.)

I've just received word that all sisters are now accounted for. I haven't heard yet how the rest of the Greek community fared during this tragedy. I know all Virginia Tech students, faculty, adminstration, and parents are everyone's thoughts and prayers.

A Message from Theta Chi Chapter at Virginia Tech:

Dear Sisters,

On behalf of the Theta Chi Chapter, we would like to thank every alumna
and chapter who has contacted us to offer their support and
condolences. The outpourings of e-mails and calls filled with kind words from our
sisters around the country have touched our chapter greatly. In a time
of such sorrow, we truly feel surrounded by sisterhood.

We feel very fortunate to have all of our chapter members safe and
unharmed. We are especially proud of one of our new initiates, Amanda
Blackeney, who serves on ResVTcue, Virginia Tech's rescue squad. Amanda
spent several hours responding to yesterday's events and exemplifying the
University's motto "Ut Prosim," meaning "that I may serve."

As we continue to grieve, we ask you to keep all members of the
Panhellenic community in your thoughts and prayers. Our chapter will be
lending support to other chapters directly affected, as well as supporting
the Virginia Tech community at large.

We will keep you posted as the response on campus and from our chapter
continues. Thank you again for your love and support.

Loyally,

Glad to Hear

Glad to hear they are all OK. I was wondering about other GLOs that may have had losses. How terrible.

I just got this through a listserve and wanted to share with everyone. Please support us all in wearing maroon and orange on friday as well as wearing an orange ribbon to remember those who were lost on monday.

Hokie Hope / Hokie Nation

Hello all:

The Virginia Tech alumni are holding a Maroon and Orange Effect Day this Friday, April 20. We are asking everyone to wear our school colors in honor of the victims of Monday's shootings, and to show that hope can prevail after this tragedy. We hope that on Friday, the United States truly will become Hokie Nation.

In addition, the students have also started an Orange Ribbon campaign to honor those who have fallen. To join this campaign, all you have to do is make and wear an orange ribbon. Facebook groups have been started for both of these events.

Lastly, Virginia Tech has started the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund in support of those affected by this tragedy. Donations are accepted online or via mail. http://www.vt.edu/tragedy/memorial_fund.php

Please join us.
