Help! Formal is coming up!

Hi all! I'm new to the forum and was so happy to find a place to talk to my fellow DG's!

I come from a great chapter, but our biggest weakness is that we have a really hard time getting our girls excited about attending social functions. We are an exceptionally involved group of women and the attitude in our chapter seems to be that DG social functions are just not a priority. That being said, we have our end of the year formal dance coming up in May. I'm on the social events crew and we are trying to make it the best even possible.

We usually just have a formal dance, but this year we are changing it a little so that there is a sit down dessert served, a cash bar (this will be the first time we've had alcohol served at a formal), and dancing. We had been talking about incorporating an awards ceremony or something else to make the night really special but we don't know what kind of awards to give out or what direction to go in.

Do you have any ideas? thoughts? any suggestions would be so appreciated!

We always had Sisterhood Superlatives. All the girls vote at chapter before hand. We have titles like: Best Big/Little; Most Scholarly; Flirtiest; Best Fashion Sense; Prettiest Eyes; etc. There are some crazy funny ones mixed in...

I second CJ's sisterhood superlatives, my chapter does the same thing.

We also honor our Seniors too and form a Hannah's court where a freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior member are picked by a chapter vote for doing something outstanding.
