Thumbs up Mulberry Lane

I was feeling rather sentimental about Chi Omega tonight (no particular reason) and wanted to share something with all my sisters out in cyberland...
I go to the University of Nebraska at Omaha. A long, long time ago a beautiful and talented young woman pledged Chi Omega's Zeta Delta Chapter. As the years passed, and her sisters grew older they all rushed and pledged Chi Omega at UNO as well. They were so well loved and musically talented that all four sisters were Homecoming Queens.
Where are they now? They are a new folk-pop type group called Mulberry Lane. We are SO proud of them.
But the point to this nonscense was to tell you about a song they wrote about their sisterhood with each other and my chapter.
If any of you have Napster please downlaod Sisters Care by Mulberry Lane!!! After listening to the lyrics you'll be in tears! Myself and a few other girls in my chapter sang the song during Recruitment and I couldn't help but choke up while looking at my sisters!
So check it out!

I'm such a dork but I had to post the lyrics too! HE HE HE!

Sisters Care by Mulberry Lane

Ohh Sister
How long is the night before the dawn?
We light a thousand candles and wait for the sun to rise, dry your eyes.
Ohh Sister
Hold onto your dreams of brighter days
Be strong enough to live through the sorrow beneith the rain, come what may

When sisters care the world should be aware
We will all be standing there, cuz my sisters they care
This is our time, this is our rhyme

Ohh Sister
How long do we gamble with our hearts
Trying hard to hold it together when lost at sea, rescue me

When sisters care the world should be aware
We will all be standing there cuz my sister they care
When sisters care in a world full of dispare
There's an answer to a prayer cuz my sister they care
This is our time, this is our rhyme

We are brave
Sisters unite
We are whole
Sisters give life
We are strong
Together we fight for light in the dark of the night

When sisters care the world should be aware
We will all be standing there cuz my sisters, ohh, they care
When sisters care in a world full of dispare
There's an answer to a prayer cuz my sisters, ohh, they care

This is our time
This is our rhyme
This is our time
This is our rhyme

Hootie,
Congrats on having such talented members leaving a legacy for your chapter. That is a wonderful song for all Greeks and especially for Chi Omegas! i had never heard about the group. Perhaps you should send an email to HQ to tell them about these women and they might add them to the famous alum list or do something about them in the Eleusis or something (you never know!) I am going to check out the music right now!

Great idea SuperXO!
I don't know when I'll be on Napster today (right now I'm not going to be home until after 9 pm). But my little brother is the one with the Napster screen name. So if you want to add him to your hotlist, add the name PuBeRtO69 (that's an O, not a zero...what a freaky little kid huh?!?!). Then you can see when someone in my family signs on Napster and download it from my list of songs.
Otherwise, when I get home I'll see if I can't ask my brother how to send it to you all (if it's on MP3)!
Sisterly Love,
Hootie

Hello Chi Omegas,

I hope you don't mind my posting on your board. I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy seeing your online sisterhood. I think your moderators do a fabulous job supplying the forum with interesting topics and I enjoy seeing the positive, supportive way you interact. I wish more Alpha Phis were online!

Greek Love,
Angel

WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!

I JUST got my Eleusis Magazine yesterday and on page 10 there is Mulberry Lane (my chapter's sisters) Can you believe all four were Chi Omegas in the same chapter and all four were Homecoming Queens? They just make me so proud (once again).

Hootie, I think it's great! I got my issue of The Eleusis earlier this week and I'm not kidding, when I read that Mulberry Lane was from Zeta Delta, I thought -- that's Hootie's chapter -- wonder if she knows them?! (Of course you'd know them if you were in school at the same time -- I just wasn't sure how old they were.) Thanks for sharing the stuff about the sisters song -- I feel like we have the behind-the-scenes scoop!

Well that just gave me warm fuzzies all over! Thanks, Angel -- that's so nice of you to say. Way to go, Chi Omega moderators!

Actually I was in a year after the youngest one graduated BUT I got to meet the younger two at one of the graduation parties our seniors had.

Thumbs up www.mulberrylane.com

Hi all!

If you go to this link http://www.mulberrylane.com/fans/index.html
you can sign up to be on Mulberry Lane's free email list. About once a month, they send out information on where the band is touring and the different things going on with them. Sounds like they have some really cool stuff coming up.

Looks like two of the girls have spun off into a duo called I-80. They are doing two performances in NYC this month. One is on a weeknight and starts at 11pm! Past my bedtime! The other, though, is on Halloween night. And since my boyfriend will be out trick or treating with his daughter, maybe I will see if some of the ladies from the alumnae chapter want to go. I'll let you know if we do!

You are correct! The two younger girls have formed a spin off (i-80). I haven't heard their music because most of the time when they're in Omaha they're MULBERRY LANE instead and doing the National Anthem. Speaking of which...on their website (which I do get the mailings for) they have the video of when they sang for the Houson Basketball team. OH MY LORD! They gave me CHILLS!

If Kathy and Kate attend I-80...let me know how they sounded. I'd be interested to see if they sound like they used to...more folksy instead of pop/dance/techno -ish.

Hootie,
Just out of curiousity how far apart are they all in age from each other? They look like they could be quadruplets.
