Thats really really sad. I think it stems from the fact that we dont have a lot of chapters on the bigger campuses, although we do have inactiave chapters in some (Penn State, Syracuse, Michigan, for crying out loud!!)
I dont know if therev is much we can do to actually get our name out though because we are on the weak side nationally... Oh, sigh
Usually its not that big of a deal, only when Im shopping for paraphanelia.

I just wanted to let y'all know - Duncan is Canadian so there are quite a few groups he's never come in contact with - nothing to be upset about!

And that's great that you guys are coming back to Penn State!! Good luck on behalf of ASA!

Im am rereading what I had posted here previously, and not only did I not proofread, but some of what I said is just wrong. Where it is true that we are on the smaller side of the NPC arena, we are no where near weak . Quite on the contrary. One benifit that I find is that the organization is very close knit. If any chapter seems to have a problem, the national office is willing to work with and for them the best that they can in order for each chapter to reach their potential. In this manor, I think that we are extremely strong, and I would not exchange my sisterhood for the world. I am proud, and always be proud to be a Sister of Theta Phi Alpha. Welcome to the family TPASteph!

I am rather new to greekchat, but one of my sisters voiced some concern for things that have been posted on here, so I decided to check it out. First of all...I must say that I was glad to see TPARose clarify what she said a few postings ago, because I too feel that because we are so small-is in no way a weakness or disadvantage to Theta Phi Alpha. I am so proud to say that I have a personal relationship with many of my organizations national officers. If any of my TPA sisters do not agree, that is simply because they have not taken the given opportunity to get to know our officers and ask for help with events, etc in their chapters. As for chapters that have went inactive at large campus's, I personally am working with Penn State's panhellenic to recolonize Rho chapter that used to exist here from 1929-1969. In the past months that I have been here at Penn State, so many sisters have contacted me saying how they wish they could be apart of something like this, that they wish more sisters would take the initiative to spread what Theta Phi means to them. I personally don't understand why sisters keep saying how they wish they could do more...and yet they "do" nothing. So, my thoughts are this, why aren't more sisters taking their vows more seriously? Because I decided to transfer from Penn State's branch campus in Erie to Penn State's main campus, I'm currently not even apart of a chapter, yet there is not a day that goes by that I am not in some way testifying and representing the organization that I hold so dear to my heart. We are small, but we are strong and I truely feel that we could be stronger by making ourselves more well known. Why is this not happening within our organization?? Theta Phi has given us sooo much, I just simply feel that we are not doing our part to give back to it what it has given to us.

Duncan's greek pages

Ok...so Duncan's greek pages doesn't have anything about TPA on them, which I too was annoyed about, but instead of just letting it pass....I emailed him and asked him why we weren't on there! He immediately emailed me back saying that simply no one had ever asked or told him about Theta Phi. Girls.....we need to work on this!!!

anyway.....I sent him some info and he said he would update it as soon as he could.

Talking THETA PHI'S !!

Hi everyone, I'm so happy to finally see some more theta phi's posting on here. But I think we are all from Pennsylvania. But that's good! We should all try to arrange some sort of get together next semester ! I am at California University of Pennsylvania by the way. TPA is one of, if not the strongest sorority on my campus!
I love TPA! It is a very large part of my life. I don't know what I would do without my sisters. They are always there for me and I would do anything for any of them.
Congrats to Rho for recolonizing, if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask!

Hello sisters!!!
Well, we now have our very own discussion group on Duncan's greek page. http://www.mcrae.ca/greek/groups.htm
After asking him to put us on there.......I hope we use it!
Also, I think a summer get together would be a fabulous idea!!! A picnicish type thing somewhere??? How about in July sometime?

Being unheard of...

Dont worry TPA's, today was the second time I was asked if Phi Sigma Sigma was national... grrr... we have the same problem of being at small campuses. We were the first national at UCLA, and we were at NYU, Pitt etc... but no one knows who we are!!! Lots of love to you!

Hey girls! I did a lot of researching different NPC groups last semester and this summer, because there are several girls interested in a new chapter at our campus. We absolutely loved everything we found on Theta Phi Alpha, and looked at all the sites we could, called any girls we knew at school with existing chapters to find out what they liked about it, etc. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to convince panhellenic that we need another sorority. Keep your fingers crossed that they cahnge their minds!!!

I hope you girls have a great recruitment and a wonderful semester!

Crystal

MTSUGIRL, we're in the same situation right now. Panhell is deciding on us, hopefully by spring. Til then you just have to prove yourselves to them, do anything you can to show you're 110% commited and will be an asset to the greek community, university, and surrounding community! We're also going Theta Phi, so if you need anything feel free to get in touch with me, I'm the president of the interest group here at Penn State. Good luck with it! Don't ever give up, it's so worth it!
