Good news for University of Guelph Greeks!!!

I received an email this morning from my chapter's CTO proclaiming that after a 10 year long battle, the Greek organizations at the University of Guelph were voted unaimously by the CSA to be recognized.

This is very exciting. The CSA has pledged their support in gaining recognition from the university. We will now have access to increased advertsing in the CSA calander.

This is a huge victory for us!

This one time, we had this thing called Google. CSA might be a bit difficult, but in 3.2 seconds, I found out that University of Guelph is in Ontario.

Congrats, and good luck!

That's great news! Now if only the same could be done at the University of Toronto...

Hey now lets not go crazy

Seriously though UofT will take a much longer, tougher route ~ a route that requires the majority of Greeks on side, and willing to fight through the myriad of student and administration politics... and of course the opposition of the "professional protestors/students" segment .

CSA stands for the Central Students Association. It's our student government.

Guelph has its fair share of professional protestors. The one advantage that Guelph does have is that all Greek organizations did band together to convince the CSA. It did take time too though. This was a 10 year battle. But if the U of T Greeks can come together, they might have a fighting chance.

Actually at Guelph, a more apt name for the CSA would be the Central Socialists Association.

guelph

think Beta has an inactive one here, rare for them. Perhaps now
they might return...and it might indeed open the door to some of
the rest of us

Beta is indeed inactive at Guelph. As is Kappa Alpha Theta. I would love to both groups return, but only time will tell.

Congrats,
At Dalhousie we have been working towards recognition since the 1930's. Since the University will not recognize us we havent really bothered to band together with the other Greeks on campus. A couple attempts at a sort of Greek Council type organization fell apart, with one or more societies not wanting to participate or not liking the way things were going. Perhaps that is the trouble we are having, but even with a united front I have my doubts they would listen to us. 70 years of trying has not panned out as of yet. Luckily the administration is not hostile, they just prefer to pretend we dont exist. We are hard to ignore though

See this article from the newspaper back at the begigning of the year, its posted on the right hand side of this website. http://www.canadiangreeks.com/
