Other Community Organizations...

What other community organizatons are you involved in...on campus, or off...collegiate or allumnae?

I'm apart of the Civil Air Patrol, Air Force Auxiliary. Its the volunteer unit of the USAF. We basically have 3 missions, Cadet programs, Aerospace education and Search & Rescue. CAP has been very active lately in the huricanne rescue and recovery. And not to long ago, they did a lot for the Columbia rescue efforts...just to provide a few examples.

You can find out more here... www.cap.gov

Mine are mostly genealogically based:

Daughters of the American Revolution
United Daughters of the Confederacy
Western PA Genealogical Society
First Families of Western PA
and of course the ADPi Alumnae Association.

I am still actively involved in ADPi both as an advisor and with running the alumnae association.

I'm actively involved in an employee networking group at my company. We provide career-oriented resources and provide community involvement opportunities. It's a women's network and our chapter is dying out because we are struggle to recruit more members to run the group - everyone wants to benefit from the workshops and social gatherings, but no one wants to do the planning... (sometimes it feels just like a sorority where the sisterhood is sorely lacking) Recently, we collected suits for Dress For Success's Send One Suit campaign. We also collect fancy dresses for donation to girls for use as prom dresses.

Other than San Antonio AA events, I am involved with the Junior League in San Antonio. My placement is on our holiday shopping committee extravaganza. It is in October so I've had a few months off and now we start to gear up for this year's event. I also have my paperwork to fill out for the Texas Pioneer Association, gotta finish that. Maybe Honey can give me some tips on finding the rest of my ancestors to see how many generations my family has been in Texas!
