Cell Phone?
Can anyone recommend a good cell phone? I'm looking for a new one and I'd like one that has a camera and maybe the mp3.

I'm open to a new carrier. I have nextel right now - love the phone hate the service.
As far as all the bells and whistles - don't need a camera (I have a digital one) but it would be nice to have one on the phone for those times that I don't have my camera. I don't carry that around with me all the time like I do my phone.
As far as mp3 is concerned - I'm the only person in the world that does not own a version of the Ipod nor will I ever own one so it would be nice to have something that I can carry around with me for music.
I've looked at Verizon (which I've had before and let's just say that their customer service is far from helpful) and Suncom.
I really don't know anything about Suncom (except what the salesperson told me) - anyone have experience with them?

Re: Cell Phone?
Nokia 6102 is a good phone. Camera, mp3, internet, large display, flip phone.

Depending on where your service area is, I'd avoid Suncom. I started out with an AT&T Wireless, who sold some of its accounts to Cingular and some to Suncom. I became a Suncom customer and was NOT a fan.
I've heard good things about Verizon since they do have the best service (as in call transmission, not customer service), but I'd ask your friends in your area which is best.

I'd switch to a phone supported by T-Mobile. They have awesome customer service, good prices (on phones & plans), & have great worldwide coverage!

Verizon has HORRIBLE customer service. Before I left them (oh, and I paid the $175 early terminiation fee - IT WAS WORTH IT!) they'd screwed up 5 of my last 6 bills. Each one took *many* calls to customer service - they'd bounce me around from dept to dept - AFTER I waited up to an hour on the phone.
Plus, they were constantly overcharging me - I'd just get mysteriously signed up for plans, get dropped off other plans, etc. It was a gigantic mess, and more often than not, the people who were supposed to help me figure it out were rude.
The stores were worse - you wait forever to talk to a technician about a problem with the handset, and then they tell you to come back in a day or two. It took me 2 months to get a new phone (I had insurance!) when mine was broken - they kept saying it just needed "the software updated".
Now I'm with TMobile. I def. like that they don't make you wait to talk to someone at customer service. So far, it's better actual cell service (my phone works more places) although I think I probably wouldn't care, just as long as the customer service was decent and my bill was correct.
I've heard good things about Suncom from friends that live in Richmond - I would've gone with them, but they don't have much of a presence here in D.C.

I'm in Charlotte and I don't think we have TMobile - that I'm aware of anyway.
I've been talking to coworkers and NO ONE has Suncom - I'm taking that as a sign. Just about everyone I know has Verizon and most say they haven't had problems. I had Verizon about 5 years ago and I know about overcharging and waiting for hours to get someone in Customer Service.
It probably doesn't matter where I go - there are bound to be problems with any service.
Thanks for info!!!

T-Mobile shows coverage in your area:

It is worth looking into, I've been with T-Mobile for years & I don't think I'll ever change!

I thought they sold everything to Cingular, I've never even heard of Suncom.

I have the Nokia 6102, and I love it, though it doesn't have an mp3 player.

This definitely varies between areas. I've had great luck with Verizon, from buying my phone to customer service. I've been extremely happy with them and would recommend them to anyone.

I just got a new phone a couple of months ago and I love it. I got the new Motorola SLVR L7. It is similar to the RAZR but doesn't break as easily. It has a camera and takes video and pictures. It also has a mp3 player. I have Cingular Wireless and I love it. I have had it for years and I haven't had any problems with the service.

Do you use the Metro often? I was thinking about switching to Verizon before I move because word on the street is that they're the only carrier that works underground (and I can't stand being detached from my phone for longer than 30 seconds).

This is true. I get a great signal on the metro.
