Do you know where your laws are?
This is a question (ok, a poll, sort of) for individual members, mostly current college members of international or national groups:
Do you have your own copy, or know how and where to access a copy or online version, of your chapter and inter/national laws?
There's a lot of misinformation or just ignorance of laws. Sure, a lot of the laws aren't important for individual members to know. There are, however, important laws about your membership, especially if you're seeking status change or have financial issues. You can't always rely on your chapter officers knowing this stuff and you're safer if you can verify it all for yourself.

Our national policy statements are printed in our Member Education manuals. The local chapter bylaws are revised and changes are voted on annually. Each member then receives an updated copy for the year.

As far as the fraternity as a whole, I know where to find the by-laws and constitution, and I had a paper copy handy when I was an undergrad.
For chapter rules, it was the same way, and they were in line with the fraternity's rules anyway. Every member of the chapter was given a paper copy, and we knew where to find them if we misplaced our copy.

I actually wrote most of our National Constitution, National By-Laws, and Chapter By-Laws, plus I'm on the National Executive Board, so I keep my copy handy. All of our new members also get copies of all of these documents with their pledge materials, and there is a bound book that sisters can order if they lose their copy.

Has your sorority expanded beyond UA yet? Just curious ...

When I was an active, we had copies of "The Law" (IHQ's rules), as well as our own governing documents distributed to to the membership and pledge classes every year.

Not yet. We've had groups at several schools express an interest in starting chapters over the past three years, but we've only become ready to consider expansion in the past few months, so everything is sort of in the beginning stages.
