Valentine's Day ideas

Ever since I was in third grade I've always hated Valentine's Day. (Don't ask, childhood trauma.) Just the idea of it is pointless and dumb to me. I have always avoided it at all costs. However, this year I have a boyfriend who wants to celebrate it. Not only do I hate Valentine's Day, but I pretty much hate all things romantic, sappy, or cheesy in nature. What do I do for Valentine's Day seeing as how I've never celebrated it before? Please no sappy/cheesy/cutesy/romantic stuff, i.e. please don't tell me to make him a candlelit dinner or something.

ok masha, heres what you should do. you should do absolutely nothing. if the boy wants to celebrate it, he should come up with what yall are gonna do! then you dont have to worry about it, and therefore no stressing out about it! im sure hes not expecting you to make the plans! enjoy it and tell me all about it! oh yah--and get well soon!!

Mr. Tau and I are thinking of going to an Indian restaurant for dinner. I don't know if we're going to do much else, since he has to go to work early the next day. Not sappy, not cheesy, but lots of good food.

All Mr.RN and I are doing is going to dinner as well. Indian sounds good, I wish I could drag him to an Indian restaurant!! But he has to work the next day, so other than dinner ( and maybe me getting flowers), thats about it for us.

Last year we stayed in and had a picnic on my apartment floor. He cooked.

We both hate the holiday and I'm really not interested in doing much this year either. We might go to dinner the weekend before (avoid the crowds) and we are taking each other on shopping sprees to different places for gifts.

Okay, last year for Val. Day we went to this local bar for beer and nachos, and a little college hoops -- which was perfect. That is, it was perfect until we realized that said bar was featuring some horrifying "speed dating with firefighters" event, which involved like two five foot four firefighters and a room full of women whose biological clocks were ticking so loudly I almost couldn't hear Dick Vitale. Desperation, baby!!

KLP...

I totally relate to not liking the cheesiness of v-day. Hence, I'm planning to go to an all-night v-day party at a club with my guy. Check around your area...there might be fun events at bars/clubs etc.

If that's not your thing, just do something you've been wanting to do. Ultimately v-day is just about being together, so do something that sounds cool, whether it be water sports, a day trip, etc

Good luck and have fun

Pizza, beer, and a movie. Simple, relaxing, and fun. What more could you ask for?

I agree - why don't you just treat it like a date? Either make him something he likes (not candlelit - think things he REALLY likes, be it tacos or chicken salad sandwiches or whatever) or go out somewhere you both like.

I gotta think there's something sweet but not cheesy you could do. If he loves his car, get it washed, etc.

I'm not a fan of Valentine's Day myself. Mr. Pi Phi and I have decided just do to dinner and a movie.
Although, I did decide to get him a gift.
