What do you think people will do for Mardi Gras?
I know Hurricane Katrina barely touched the Mardi Gras area, but how many people know that? I know some people who think the area was destroyed. Even if they do know better, I wonder will all of the awful coverage in other parts NO deter many people from even coming. I am detered for now. Those horrible images are burned into my mind, and I associate them with NO period.
Will people go anyway?
Will people just stay in their areas?
Will people flock to St. Louis or Pensacola?
Where are you going?

Yes?
I would imagine people will get drunk and have sex, just like normal, and the world will be better for it.

Am I missing something here? Is St Louis a hotbed of Mardi Gras activity?

Yes, the Soulard District in St. Louis has the second largest Mardi Gras Celebration.

As Ole Miss Glitter can tell you, Mardi Gras is really two very distinct activities. First, there is the private side which is the real heart of the celebration where visitors have to know someone in order to be invited to participate. This is sort of the New Orleans family party run by and for the Krewes who put on the traditional Carnival Balls, parades, and related activities. Then there is the public and commercial side which is designed to seperate the tourist visitor from his money while making him think he has seen the Mardi Gras. That may sound a bit harsh, but it is the bottom line. The private side will go on much as usual. The public side will go on but will be rather constrained. As to procreating and inebriating, New Orleanians never needed any excuses for enthusiastic participation in those activities.

Pensacola? It's Mobile that has the other Gulf Coast Mardi Gras. It's much tamer, though.
