Initiation gift

To the actives:
What does your alumnae association give to the new actives upon initiation? My group is looking for cute ideas for the chapter we support. Currently we give badgeboxes to hold their pin that has our GLO initials cross-stitched on top.

Although i think it changed this past year, our alumnae gave badge boxes that are heart shaped, and fuzzy red... like well I can't explain.. not fluffy or anything, like felt or something, with a smaller metal heart on top with Sigma Kappa and the initiation date. Very cute

Sorry my explaining skills suck right now.

There are a lot of alums in the area where my chapter is, but no formally-organized alumnae association that I am aware of. So, typically, no initiation gifts from alums.

In my case, I was a founder, and when we were initiated, the TEC who had been placed with us during our first weeks as a colony gave us acrylic badge boxes with the crest imprinted on the lid. Mine has disappeared - fortunately my badge was not in it!

a possible gift idea would be

* a nice shirt with your letters on it (that an alum would be able to wear at places other than chapter meetings)

* a business card holder

* a small engraved plaque (for their office, about 5x7)

good luck

Monika

What I meant was what the alumnae association gives TO the new initiates.

Those would be very nice gifts for Senior Ceremony or for an Alumna Initiate.

When I was initiated, our AA gave us each a New Member pin, and a beautiful, handmade holder/plaque for it, with a note that we never forget the beauty and history of our GLO, that we continue to live our Creed as initiated sisters.

Unfortunately, as beautiful as they were, the AA got into a lot of troubles for buying a bunch of New Members pins to give to us!

But if you're looking for something, the message is basically the same: Don't forget your beginnings, as you reach your goals as a sister. I still have mine!

We got autographed pictures of either Bea Arthur or Joey Lawrence. Everyone got one or the other, except they ran out of those so I had to settle for a picture of Blossom signed as Blossom. I was super pissed.

Was it at least a picture with her wearing one of those big, floppy, fugly hats? That could be worth something on eBay one of these days.

True, she is wearing a big hat and leg warmers, so that could get me some scratch for it off of e-bay.

The bidding starts at $250.
