Well, I will try to make it if everyone else wants to go (the cool people on GC and from my chapter).

Welll, we have four areas when the convention go to.
At Denver, only ONE location was put forth as a location for the 2006 Convention. So the choice was kind of easy.
We'll see what site(s) are put forth for 08. Let's hope its more then one. (Philly is out. DC? Others?)

It's my understanding that there is preliminary work being done for bids from DC and Boston.
In Denver, there was supposed to have been a competing bid from Indianapolis, but the bid imploded when another organization booked a conference ahead of us, in the same time frame that we would have needed.

I like the idea. Louisville is only 2 hours from my chapter, and chapter brothers. Great idea. Though there's absolutely nothing do in Lousiville.

I am not a member of your frat...but Louisville has built up some more things...so there is something to do.
Where is the host hotel?

Galt House.
And I don't know about anyone else, but I'm looking forward to exploring Louisville. Are you still there, Nia?

As for why...
Alpha Phi Omega's Convention rotates through Convention Regions (West, North, East and South). 2006 had to be in the North convention region. There are parts or all of Regions V, VI, VIII and IX in that region.
From what I understand, the last two in the north had been in the largest cities of Region VIII (St. Louis) and Region IX (Minneapolis), so those regions didn't look to put together bids. Region VI originally wanted to do Indianapolis, which didn't work out and then tried Grand Rapids, Michigan. That bid didn't fulfill the criteria set forth by the National Board, so Region V's selection (Louisville) won, essentially by default. Some of the people here were at the 2004 convention in Denver, let me know if I've got this all correct?
