Fatal Accident Involving 3 Ole Miss Greeks
Three Students Mourned
12/10/2005
OXFORD, Miss. - The University of Mississippi mourns the loss of three students who died in a one-car accident south of Batesville early Saturday morning.
The students are freshman Graham Carson of Marks, freshman Camille Willis of Batesville, and sophomore Leslie Pitcock of Batesville.
With school's being out for the holidays, the Ole Miss Dean of Students Office will work with student groups to plan a campus memorial next semester.
Graham Carson was a new member of Tri Delta, Camille Willis was a new member of Chi Omega, and Leslie Pitcock was a member of Tri Delta.
Even though the students are gone for break this has saddened our entire community and we are all praying for their families, friends, and sorority sisters. All three were beautiful young ladies and they will be missed greatly.

Ole Miss Students Die in Wreck
by Jermaine Jackson
December 10, 2005
Three Ole Miss students are dead after a crash at the intersection of Highway 6 and Interstate 55 in Batesville.
Sophomore Leslie Pitcock and freshmen Graham Carson and Camille Willis were killed in a one-car collision after the three were returning from the South Panola High School football game early Saturday morning.
Pitcock, of Batesville, was a 2004 graduate of Senatobia Junior-Senior High School.
Marks native Carson, 18, was a 2005 graduate of Delta Academy, and Willis, 19, was a 2005 graduate of South Panola High School in Batesville.
The funeral for Graham Carson will be held Monday at 2 p.m.at Marks Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be at her home on Sunday from 5-7 p.m.
The visitation for Camille Willis will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at First Methodist Church in Batesville. Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Batesville.
Leslie Pitcock’s funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Batesville. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Wells Funeral Home.
Friends describe the three women as loving people who were heavily involved in school.
Any further questions may be directed to the Dean of Students office.

This was such a sad, preventable outcome to an accident. There were four young people, in this one-car accident. The one young man who walked away was the only person in the vehcile wearing a seat belt. According to the Clarion Ledger, two of the young ladies were killed instantly and the third died shortly after the accident: all three were not buckled. I am almost sure this is an inappropriate time to soapbox... The Ole Miss community has been hit so hard the last three years. OleMissGlitter, I am sorry.

You are correct Angels&Arrows they were not wearing their seatbelts. They had stopped in Grenada about 30 minutes prior to the accident to change cars and switch up drivers. The good news is that alcohol/drugs do not seem to be the cause at all from what I have heard. However, it is very sad and I hope this will let anyone now who does not currently wear a seat belt to wear one please!
I know it will be hard for the Tri Delta's and the Chi Omega's. The two Tri Delta's were big sis/lil sis from what someone told me. However, the Greek Community at Ole Miss and the Ole Miss Family are here to comfort and support.

How tragic!
I know members of both chapters at Ole Miss. Haven't talked to them recently, but I'm sure this was a shock to everyone.

You're not on a soapbox, just saying something that many of us would think - that ONE MINUTE it would have taken to click those seat belts would have saved three lives, and would have not ruined Christmas for their families for the rest of their lives.
My sincerest condolences to the families and friends of these wonderful women, and to the Ole Miss campus in general.

I think it's exactly the right time to talk about seat belts. This tragedy might spur other kids to protect themselves. I hope that this is the last news of its kind we'll read for a long, long time.
