Memo to Sonic Burger

If you're not going to BUILD one in San Diego, then

STOP SHOWING THE COMMERCIALS HERE!

It's like a hot girl showing you her boobs from 100 yards away, you want to try them for yourself, but they aren't remotely close to you.

Thank God the Delta Sig Convention was in Austin and I got to taste Sonic.

I mean, c'mon, it's not like they show In N Out commercials in Wisconsin...

I had an issue with the stations doing that when I lived in CT. They would often show Sonic, Quiznos and other commercials, when it was obvious that there wasn't one of those places anywhere near me. It was like they were teasing the audience.

They still show Sonic commercials here in MA, and unless I'm incorrect, I don't know of one in the state.

At least they're not showing In N Out commercials - now that would be unfair.

Relax Stan. Sonic is not that great anyway, and their advertised specials are usually limited in the fine print so they are not available.

This happens when Sonic (or someone) buys a national spot on a network. It shows on the entire network.

Sometimes a network will offer a "sectional" and allow a local station to "cover" a national spot -- but the local can decide not to do it -- or screw it up -- or sometimes the network doesn't get the correct word out.

BTW, sectionals are particularly difficult during sports events, because the commercial formats are very fluid.

On yesterday's Bronco game, CBS couldn't run any commercials by contract during most of the first half because the entire network for that telecast didn't join until almost the end of the first half due to an overtime game elsewhere.

That happened in the very first network game I ever directed -- although the OT only lasted thru most of the first quarter and we couldn't run any commercial material until everyone else joined up. At that point, you have to start combining commercial breaks, dropping promos, etc. to try to get the revenue in, so the sectional really become almost impossible to do correctly.

You're really not missing all that much by not having a sonic. The best things on the menu are the slushes and the extra long chili cheese coney.

We get Sonic commercials too and there's not one for about 90 miles away or so... I agree the slushes and other drinks are the best thing about sonic... I'm kinda glad that there's not one everywhere near me, gives me something to kinda look foward to when I have to go to Fresno, cause really there's not much else to look foward to in Fresno.

I think most of the menu is OK, but the Limeade is great!

Ha! we have a 7-11 on every street corner up here. No Sonics though and i see those commercials all the time. Sonic does suck though, I had it when I was living in Tx. Not impressed.

I can't even fathom a state without a 7-11. What do you do for Slurpees?

I would like to ask Ruby Tuesday's to quit with the ads too. It just reminds me of the one time I ate at one in Virginia. Not a fond memory at all.

Yeah, I'm constantly reminded of Tennessee (that was a wasted year) when I see the Ruby Tuesday commercials.

UGH. Now they are throwing up a damn Krystal's a few miles from here. Yet another reminder....

I'm moving further west if we get an O'Charlies (I mean O'Hep C).
