Neal Boortz is a true patriot, a 35 year veteran of talk radio and a 50 year veteran of life. To him, freedom is everything. Always has been - even when this country wasn't listening. Now, everyone is listening. There is no greater point of view or more relevant show on the radio today. Neal drives home important and oft-forgotten points on the day's most important issues with a unique blend of insight and humor.

Neal was born on April 6, 1945 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania; however, he left for Texas about 30 days later when his father returned to the Pacific to continue his participation in World War II as a Marine pilot. According to Neil, Texas was always his "official" residence, but he lived all over the place since his father was in the Marine Corps. His places of residency include Honolulu, Hawaii; Laguna Beach, California; Morehead City, North Carolina; Virginia Beach, Virginia; Pensacola, Florida and others.

After attending Texas A&M University from 1963 to 1967, Neal went to Atlanta to visit his parents. According to Neal, his father was working at Lockheed at the time, and liked the place, so he stayed and has been there ever since.

Neal graduated from an Atlanta law school in 1977. “Law school finally presented a challenge worthy of my attention, so I worked at it and graduated near the top of my class. I passed the bar before graduation so I went into practice immediately. I continued practicing law until I signed a contract with WSB in 1992,” said Neal.

During his years in talk radio, Neal also practiced law from 1977 to 1992. Prior to 1977, Neal also worked as a jewelry or carpet buyer, an insurance salesman, selling life and casualty insurance, loading trucks, slinging mail at the post office, working in an employment office, writing speeches for the Governor of Georgia and auditing the books overnight at a “sleazy” motel. Neal added, “Since I didn't retire from my law practice until I signed with WSB in 1992 this would mean that I was 47 years old before I ever had less than two jobs.”

Neal lives in the Northern suburbs during the week and in Southwest Florida during most weekends. “When I'm not on the air or giving a speech somewhere, I like to spend whatever free time is left playing golf or flying. When it's time to slip the bonds of gravity I choose between a hot air balloon, my Mooney Ovation2 or my Super Decathlon. There's nothing like flying upside down to clear your mind ...” he said.

Neal has also explored his talent for writing. “When I feel particularly frisky I like to sit down and write. My first book, The Terrible Truth about Liberals, has been through six different printings. I'm presently working on my next book, Somebody Has to Say It. I expect a brutal bidding war from several publishers for that one.”

As for politics, Neal is a confirmed Libertarian. “I believe that the principal difference between the Democrats and the Republicans is that the Democrats just want to grow our Imperial Federal Government a bit faster than the Republicans do,” he said.

For the third consecutive year, Boortz has been nominated "NewsTalk Personality of the Year" by the readers of Radio and Records Magazine, an award he won in 2002. Neal was also a "finalist" for a 2002 Marconi Award as "network syndicated personality of the year." He sees no shame in losing that award to broadcasting icon Paul Harvey.

Your talk was provocative and vibrant as well as controversial! That is no surprise! It made one laugh but at times it enraged one of government and it's antics forced upon us. I personally enjoyed your narratives of your past skits, I laughed so hard it hurt. It was a pleasure to have met you and worked with you.

Neal Boortz was the scheduled speaker for a group of 1,000 mortgage brokers at the annual Southeastern Mortgage Brokers Conference. He was assigned the challenging time slot of 10:00 on Saturday morning in New Orleans. His reputation filled the room to capacity and his speech did not disappoint the crowd. His talk was animated and engaging. We would definitely reschedule him for another meeting.

Thought provoking and entertaining are the first words that come to mind when I start to describe Neal's talk at our conference. He had everyone's full attention from the start as he brought us up to date on the latest from Washington and then responded to comments and questions. He is considerate of every opinion and gives thoughtful responses. Neal is not a liberal or conservative, I'd call him a "practitioner of common sense." The whole group loved him. We even had people who were not part of our group stopping in to listen!
