FRIED...The Offical Thread of Mondays (R)

So why is it that the weekends are supposed to be relaxing, yet I think I come to work on Monday more tired then when I show up on Friday? And why is it that we have one employee who ALWAYS has the "Monday Flu"?

I think it is because Monday suck ass and should be outlawed. I'm not tired, I just don't want to be here. Let me go home and have one more day of weekend!!!!

Really though, you always feel tired on Monday morning, but ask yourself this: If you were able to leave work right now, would you immediately stop being tired? My answer is YES!

I almost didn't come in today. Considering Rosh Hashanah begins tonight, I really shouldn't be here at all but I have so much to do. This morning, I felt so sick but I forced myself to come in. Plus my dog was performing scenes out of The Exorcist all night so now I'm exhausted.

I've heard a theory on this...

The reason you're tired today is because you're feeling the sleep you got Saturday night. You should feel more rested tomorrow because you'll be feeling the sleep you got last night. The theory is sleep takes a day to set in, or something like that.

I suppose this would make sense, and explain why we are ALL always tired on Mondays.

But wait, this theory would mean that ideally, we should be going to bed at like 10 on Saturday night..... I don't like this theory anymore.

I just started a new job today.

A bad night's sleep last night + getting up at 5am + 2 hours on the commuter rail + 20 minutes on a very crowded subway + 1 cup of coffee instead of my usual 2 = I'm lucky I didn't fall asleep during new hire orientation. That would have made a great first-day impression.

I. Hate. This. Monday.

1. We found out that an adoption we very much wanted to do may have fallen through.

2. I found out that a dear friend, who was practically my dad when I lived in Hawaii, died.

3. Then we found out that another friend died yesterday.

4. I went to the dentist because I thought I'd broken part of a molar on some food at school. Turns out my molars are fine and that it was probably part of someone else's tooth in my salad.
