"Agent 86" is dead...

Multiple EMMY winnder Don Adams who played bungling secret agent Maxwell Smart on the TV show Get Smart has died of a lung infection. He was in his early 80's.

The program, a parody of all of the Cold War spy shows, was one of the funniest shows on TV back then.

That was one of my favorite shows to watch on Nick at Nite when I was little. This makes me sad.

awww.... i loved him! That was a great show!

Wasn't he also a cartoon voice? I'm thinking something like the Underdog show or something related to that time period.

Would you believe... it's curtains for Agent 86! RIP, Don Adams.

Agent 86 -- first guy to use a "shoe phone" on TV. Long before they were actually invented.

At least the original shoe phone is preserved in a museum of movie and TV-show spy memorabilia!

Weird... I was just talking about Get Smart with my roommate the other day cause she never heard of it and it used to be one of my fav Nick-at-Nite shows when I was in elementary school. How sad.

I was so happy when Nick at Night picked up Get Smart as I loved that show when it was on originally (I know, dating myself A LOT). My dad and I would watch it every week and laugh until it hurt.

You and me both. I used to watch it religiously EVERY night at 9 PM EST. My mom thought I was crazy because I watched the show so much. I even remember when Fox tried to bring it back. RIP Mr. Adams.
