I am an EMU alumna and am still pretty in touch with the campus and our chapter there. If you've read all the Southern Recruitment threads, you'll get an idea of what EMU Recruitment is NOT. Just like the campus, recruitment is fairly laid back. Recs are unheard of. You will have a recruitment counselor to give you information and help you through the process.
First parties begin September 19th with Preference parties on the 23rd and bid day on the 24th. Preference will be dressy so you should have a nice dress to wear that day (I hope to be at Pref). There are 9 NPC groups and a long time local sorority called Sigma Nu Phi. Sigma Nu Phi usually does not participate in formal recruitment. Quota is usually between 9 and 14 women. Chapter total is 55, but few chapters are at total. Most of the chapters there have some sort of house, but they are rented from local landlords, not owned by the sororities. Some are official houses and some are not, but are used like official houses. The NPC sororities are:
Alpha Gamma Delta
Sigma Kappa
Alpha Xi Delta
Sigma Sigma Sigma
Sigma Delta Tau
Alpha Sigma Tau (they were founded at EMU)
Delta Zeta
Phi Sigma Sigma
Hope that helps! (I was as non-biased as I could be). The campus as a whole is great and so is the Greek system, even though it's not huge. Being Greek at EMU really makes you feel more a part of a University.
