All Kansas State U. Sororities Now at or above Total, School Says

A Kansas State U. press release says that all 11 NPC sororities there are now at or above total, which I guess is good news. The release also seems to say that everyone made quota, although the word "quota" is not used -- it mentions the maximum number each chapter could invite.

The August 29, 2005 press release:

http://www.mediarelations.ksu.edu/WE...ties82905.html

FYI the NPC chapters at K-State are Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Xi Delta, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Pi Beta Phi and Sigma Kappa.

Some of those chapters are celebrating their 90th continuous year at K-State this year: Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta and Pi Beta Phi. The Kappa Kappa Gamma chapter is a year younger, founded in 1916.

Wow, congratulations to the sororities at K-State!

If they all made quota, does anyone know how many PNMs did not receive bids? Is this the first year that this has happened or have their numbers been improving for several years?

If the number of PNMs getting cut is low and rush numbers are up for awhile, then maybe they should think about either raising total- or even possible expansion.

I'd be interested to know how many women signed up for Recruitment and what they did this year that was so vastly different from past years. The article is somewhat vague.

Sounds like maybe they went to a serious, no-frills recruitment:

"It was a resounding success," said Mary Vanier, Manhattan, adviser to K-State's chapter of Gamma Phi Beta. "This new concept enabled our members to focus on having quality conversations with potential new members, instead of worrying about skits and decorations."

"The end result was that 100 percent of the women who completed the recruitment week received an invitation to join a house." [said Lisa Fant, assistant director of Greek affairs at K-State.]

In all, K-State's sororities gained 463 news members during the recruitment period. The majority of the new members are freshmen, along with a few sophomores and juniors.

The news release does not say how many women started rush, nor how many were cut or dropped prior to the final round/bids extended.

Sorry, but "quality conversations," skits AND decorations are all possible. You just have to properly prepare the girls. These kinds of statements drive me nuts.
