Amusement Parks

I am reminiscing about good times at amusement parks. Would anyone like to share their favorite memories and favorite parks?

I love all the Disney parks, and have been to most of them multiple times (the only ones I haven't been to are Tokyo Disney, Disney Sea or the new one in Singapore.)
When I was young- maybe 3 or 4- just tall enough to ride the Big Thunder Mt Railroad, my parents took me on it at Disneyland. I don't remember the experience, but my dad sat in the car in front of us and turned around and snapped a picture of my terrified face, holding on to mom's arm for dear life. The picture is great! LOL
So 10 or 12 years later, we go to Disney World with my youngest brother, who is at the time, just tall enough to ride Big Thunder Mt Railroad. Of course, I had to sit in front of him and turn around to snap a picture of his terrified face, holding on to mom's are for dear life! It was fun to compare the two pictures when we returned home.

DISNEY WORLD is fantastic. I have been there ~10 times. The last time I went there ws my honeymoon 4 years ago.

I just love that place. Clean, nice, wonderful for honeymoons, fun . . . I never can get enough of that place.

If anyone ever goes to Disney World you must stay "in" the park. The resorts in the park are worth every penny. And, if money is an issue then you can just stay at one of the "all star" resorts.

Once some of us stayed at the AllStars and some of them stayed outside of the part (to save money) and it turned out they ended up paying more then we did and we had more fun. Early enterance, plus other perks for staying in the park.

I could go on and on about disney world.

But, i wont.

And if you ever get the chance to go on a Disney cruise-they're wonderful. Just like being at your own small park with all the characters, entertainment, music, and pools. Just no rides-but a great big ocean, and the island is just like the pictures in the commercials!

As to the park- I have been to WDW numerous times, as have most of us-but my favorites were taking our then seven year old daughter for the first time, at Christmas, with everything decorated so beautifully and going to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party; taking her again (just me and her) at age 8 during the fall season and staying at the Polynesian and doing Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party; and our family staying with my sister's family for a week during the summer at the Grand Floridian. All of these are such wonderful memories. Maybe I'll post some pics sometime.

Believe it or not, I was at Houston AstroWorld 3 years ago with a sister. I had just moved to Houston and she was visiting. We actually ran into another UNT sister while there that we hadn't seen in 2 years. It was great to reconnect!!

Unfortunately I haven't been able to visit any amusement parks on the east coast so its all about the west coast parks for me.

I will always, always, always love Disneyland. No question asked. My all time favorite ride is Space Mountain (which I'm so happy, it finally reopened this summer after having been closed for like three years). I just love everything about Disneyland. I love how no matter how old you are, when you get there you get so excited, like a little kid. I love how you can go on the little kid rides and no one looks at you odd, because it is Disneyland. When I went in March with my best friend we had so much fun going on all the little kid rides.

I love California Adventure too becuase I'm a huge roller coaster fan and the one there is a faster and it has the loop. Plus, some of the rides at CA are a bit more "grown up". But hey you get a two for one and can hop from park to park.

I also love Magic Mountain/Great America. I've been to the one in...well I'm not sure where it is, north of LA but south of San Fran. I love it b/c again the roller coasters. I've been to the Great America's in San Fran and Schaumberg. I have also been to the Six Flags in San Antonio.

I just love amusement parks in general. They are a blast.

I LOVE DISNEYWORLD! I'm 23 and I've probably been there at least that many times. Everyone thinks it's funny that I end up becoming a default tour guide when we go because I know so much about the parks and property.

SO...if there's anything you need to know or any random trivia you want, let me know! LOL

(and yes...I realize the possible dorkiness of this addiction)

Isn't it amazing how the Disney franchise can trascend the ages? How about other parks? We've heard about Sea World and AstroWorld... any other favorite parks?

Here's another growing up story from me, this one about a local amusment park. Every summer, our local library would do a summer reading program. The prize for reading so many books was a free day pass to Lakeside, a small amusement park in south Denver. I loved reading anyway, but it was always so much more fun to be rewarded for it at the end of the summer. This park was so small, it only had the very basic rides, but one was a rickety old roller coaster. We would get in line again and again and always try to sit in the front seat, even if it was raining!
Unfortunately Lakeside has closed down now, but Denver still has Elitch Gardens, which was bought out by the Six Flags organization and moved locations to more of a central down town place. They moved every last ride from the original turn of the 19th century location!

Conniebama, I went to DisneyWorld on my honeymoon, too! It was the best! And, BBelle, it was at Christmas- I know what you mean about the beautiful decorations!

I love Disney!!! I can't wait to take my kids. We wanted to go last spring, but then I got pregnant and so we decided to wait until both kids would be old enough to enjoy it. But I want to go while my daughter is still young enough that the magic is real to her!
