Beauty Tips
I'm bored and always interested in beauty tips so ladies how about we discuss the topic of beauty tips and exchange them so that others can learn things about upkeeping out beauty.
So I'll start us off...
Got time and need to wash your hair but you have braids-take a qtip and astringent and go around the scalp.
Tea tree oil works wonders on dandruff.
Putting on an alphahydroxy cream and leaning over a steaming bowl works on cleansing the face.
Soak aching feet in peppermint oil and a warm water.
And I have tons more to come.

Never ever go to bed with make-up on. Wash your face!!
Drink lots of water.
If you are tired, don't fake. Get your rest.
Tune out everything and everybody when you are stressed. Chill. Stress shows on your face and causes health problems.
I'll be back with more cause I'm a beautiful woman. (I had a few compliments today so I am feeling a little conceited )

For oily skin:
Tea tree oil soap is effective against breakouts.
Use toners with a witch hazel base, as opposed to alcohol, to prevent overdrying, which causes skin to produce even more oil.
Find a clay mask you like and use it once a week. I like Seaweed Mud Treatment by H2Oplus.
For everyone:
Once a month, draw a warm bath, for soaking not bathing. Add 2 cups of epsom salt and soak in it to remove toxins from the body.
For soft feet, soak feet in a half gallon of warm water with 1 cup of vinegar for 20 minutes. Burn a candle if you can't stand the smell of vinegar. Then, rub feet with a punice stone.
If you like shea butter, you can purchase the unrefined butter (it's cheaper), melt it down in a microwave safe dish, and add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to tone down the natural scent. Just stick it in the refrigerator for a few minutes and it will resolidify very quickly.
Invest in a high quality body moisturizer just because. I like Multi-Vitamin Milk body lotion by H2O Plus. It makes me feel like Cleopatra.
Wrap hair in satin scarves, not cotton.
Don't be cheap! Buy matching lipliner to go with your lipsticks. It really does keep the lipstick from "bleeding" into those fine lines around your mouth.
Eat fresh fruits and vegetables daily.
Smile!

MidwestDiva, I was just wondering about you. Where in the world have you been? Anyway, I'm glad to see you back on the scene.

Thank you Miss.Mocha! It's nice to know someone was thinking about me. I've been really busy lately and not able to post as often as usual.

I need advice
I have ridiculous combination skin. Its oily when I wake up and then I wash and its like sandpaper. I use cleanser for sensitive skin and then a toner thingy and then cocoa butter. What am I doing wrong? My face still gets really dry.

The cocoa butter might be too greasy, which then leads to more toner, and creates a vicious [sp?] cycle. Try a cleanser that's "balancing" I got an Aveno one that's pretty good. I like it b/c it doesn't leave a film on my skin, it washes away well.

I have combination skin as well. I recommend using a mask at least twice a week, nose and forhead. Wipe with a warm towel.
Use products with Alpha Hydroxy in them, Aveeno is good for that.
My sistas, we must remember that we need sunscreen too. Never leave the house without it.
Also, once a week rub your elbows and knees with lemon halves. The skin on those areas darkens easily, leaving an uneven look, the lemon helps A LOT!!
Get a peel every now and again, evens out the complexion.
Never self WAX!!! Only professionals should do this. Oftentimes at home kits miss the "after care" necessary for newly waxed skin. Pulling hair from underarms etc. if done improperly can seriously damage the area.

I got my pits done once before a wedding. It looked great, but trust me when I say - take some sort of pain killer before your appointment. ouch! It hurts more than a bikini wax! But, if you're going on vacation, or something, it's worth it.

So true. Taking ibuprofen before getting any waxing down helps prevent any swelling and will reduce pain.
My tip: CLIP THOSE SPLIT ENDS!!!!

I have a question. Has anyone tried products by Carol's Daugther, I saw it mentioned in Essence this month and went to their website and some of the products I want to try but I would like to hear from some who's used the products first.
Thanks!
