Howard University School of Business

Hello Everyone,

Can anyone tell me if Howard University's SOB has a reputable MBA program. I know about the SOL and the School of Fine Arts, but not about the SOB.

Thanks.

Some friendly advice:

Don't use acronyms for programs that have very common other meanings....

Yeah, I thought she was mad at Howard for some reason.

To answer the question, there are various sites where you can research a school's reputation. Maybe start by Googling Graduate Schools of Business.

Ladygreek, I am looking for personal experiences rather than generic statistics, but thank you for the tip.

Oh our School of B is GREAT!!

Im a business minor, but the school prides itself of super strict standards, and is a top ranked school...according to the Dean, they have the highest placement of black MBAs in the workforce...

But those stats needs to be qualified with where are the placements, the starting salaries, and who has done the ranking. Plus the rankings vary by specialization, e.g. marketing, market research, finance, operations, general business management, etc.

20Pearls, my daughter majored in advertising, which was in the School of Communications, and minored in marketing at Howard. And she loved it. But she received her MBA in marketing elsewhere.

I do know of a young lady who received her MBA from HU and she, too, enjoyed her experience. She was placed in a sales position at Pepsi after her graduation.

Other than that I haven't heard much about its B School. Hopefully someone on here can give you better info about their experiences in the MBA program.

Thanks LG that is what I thought. I know the LS and the SFA are well reputed, but I didn't think the GRAD B-School had reached it's full potential. Thanks y'all!

brief history as to my qualifications...or lack thereof

-Howard grad (although in Fine Arts)
-Mother is director of advisory center in the School of Business ( although she deals with undergrads)
-linesister just recieved her MBA ( I could ask her some more indepth questions)

==============================================

Howard University has by far the best business program of, not only a black school, but schools in general. They have the highest accreditation a business school can get, AACSB. Only two HBCUs have this accreditation, the other is FAMU. They have put the most color on Wall Street.

I apologize if this is not the personalized experience you wanted. My linesister said it kicked her butt, but she survived it.

BTW the proper abbreviation for School of Business is SB. As they say, "Ain't no SOBs and ain't no BS, ya dig?"
