Dating Must Haves
What are some things that a dude/dudette must have/do for you to date him?

Good topic!
He must have a great personality, great conversation, loves sports, energetic, well kept ( I can't stand a dirty hoodrat dude) possess the ability to make me laugh, love his mom, church going, and doing something positive with his life.
He must be able to keep me on my toes...as a Gemini I tend to get bored with things and people quickly..LOL

No you're not shallow at all.
Must haves:
vehicle
job
good personality
good looks
cleanliness
sense of humor
He can have everything going for him in abundance but if he doesn't have a vehicle, we can not date period. Why? Because I have a vehicle.

Thanks BlueReign!
I had this conversation with a friend and he said that I was wrong because I only wanted to date college educated, tall men with cars!

Re: Dating Must Haves
He must be positive in spirit and life outlook (negative people drain my energy), smart, down-to-earth, real (not bourgeoisie sp? and/or always showboating and worrying about what people think about the kind of car he drives for instance), honest, goal-oriented and determined to work toward succeeding in achieving his goals. He must also be at least moderately attractive.
As I've gotten older and am preparing myself for having a husband one day, I realize that he must also be able to lead me and be someone who I think will make sound decisions for any potential family that we have together one day. I realized that the reason that I always had a problem with the idea that the man was the head of the household was b/c I had not met a man who I thought was *smart enough* to lead me...someone who I would trust to lead me. I have met a few now and have know problem with turning over that power in a marriage. So he must someone who could, will lead my (potential) family one day.
It's not a requirement but I'd like for him to have had a relationship with a positive male figure while growing up as well.

Ha! Epitome, that is hilaroius. I don't think that that's shallow. Maybe if you said that he had to drive a Range, then it might be a little arguable but naw, you're good. Next stop Dallas? How exciting! Good for you. I have some relo plans of my own that I will be bringing to fruition in a month or so.

Had some time to really think about this. . .
The next man I date or spend time with must have:
the ambition to carry him through even when his resume isn't getting him there
a strong sense of humor and the ability to enjoy mine
musical taste that is beyond the radio's top 40 adn the 106 and Park's regular rotation
dreams but the tenacity to keep them from being deferred
a plan B
mental prowess to appreciate the writings of Cornell West, the spiritual teachings of Vashti McKenzie and the comic philosophy of Aaron McGruder
an appetite for Black history, innovation, and progess
a heart that loves family, friends, and the presence of a good woman complete with imperfections by his side
ability to be his best in the boardroom, bedroom, or the ball court/field
the manners of a gentlemen
the tears of Jesus (if Jesus can cry, so can you)
appreciates Black art
willingness to try new things or show me new things
has read a book beyond Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat or Encyclopedia Brown's old crime sleuthing stints
a familiarity with his kitchen and the appliances that are within; you don't have to be Emeril but at least know how to throw together a decent meal
respect, love, and admiration for Black women
spontaneity
dancing feet that don't step on mine
my back as I pursue my dreams
a love for serving the community
suitcases ready to travel for either a weekend getaway, week long vacation or whereever the roads lead us
I think that covers it now. Jet lag is zapping my energy.
