LA/California Greeks...

I just found out that Mr. Trojangal is going to a weeklong seminar at MI in Hollywood in mid-June. Of course, being the supportive wife that I am, I am also coming out as well.

His sessions are going to be at MI basically from 10 until around 5 and that leaves me with a LOT of time on my hands by myself.

So...suggestions on what to do?

hey,

i don't like hollywood much but if are out in hollywood then i suggest doing the typical tourist shit that everyone does. Or go to 3rd and Fairfax over to the Grove and hit up the Farmers market. THey have this one place that sells awesome pastries. i am sorry but i forget the name of it. but there are a bunch of asians who run it. obviously people will say " oooh go to Pinks and Roscoes!" yeah, go there if you wish. Pinks is an over hyped hotdog stand and Roscoes is some place that sells chicken n waffles. whoopity doo. i suggest you go out to malibu to a place called MoonShadow. Only thing I like about it is that its right at the ocean, and makes for beautiful views. but then again there are lots of places like that. but i like it regardless. you can go to the Getty Museum off the 405. its really cool. I can give two rats ass about art, but what is cool about it is that its on some hills that overlook the ocean. you and your hubby will probably enjoy that view. just don't look at the otherside because you will see a shitload of smog. if you are anything like me, you will probably try to get it on with your signifcant other? who knows, maybe you can explain to little Burg why his middle name is Getty...get it? GettyBurg? Gettsburg? And you give little BUrg a middle name called Getty becuase you conceived him there? GET it?! Get IT!?!?! Ok just kidding.

Ok what else, I hung out with some chick who lives in Boston recently and she wanted me to take her to Compton. Yeah, I wasn't about to do that. But if you and your hubby are up to it, you can do what our pledges do. Drive into Compton, roll down the windows and blast some country music.....juuuuust kidding. or am i? ok just kidding about the or am i part. or am i???? hmmm ok just kidding.
I don't know man. You will really need a car out here. LA is a little different and I don't like it. I'm all about OC, and OC is a little too far for you to drive. Plus you might get shot up in Laguna Hills if you look at a surfer the wrong way. Becuase you know...us Laguna Hillians are gangsta like that.

oh yeah i guess the 3rd street prominade over in Santa Monica is pretty cool.
OK well, go do that fun little Hollywood stuff. Streets to remember, Hollywood blvd & Highland. Melrose is cool. Too many people who think they are too cool for school there though. Lots of tourist stuff there. Santa MOnica blvd, don't bother going on Sunset unless your husband is into men...which for your sake I hope he is not.

hey if you dont wanna do any of the tourist shit that i just listed go ahead and P to the M me. i'll tell you some cool places with nice scenery and not a lot of people. i'm serious.

remember to watch CRASH so you can know what NOT to say and think, so you don't look like a racist.

Oh so you can give trojangal advice on where to go, but I don't get any love in my thread? I see how it is. I hope your mom disowns you once she finds out you're banging a white chick.

Get out of L.A. once in a while. I live in Long Beach & there's plenty to do out here too.

We will have a car while we are there. Hubby is going to be in seminars most of the day so that's why I need to find things to do. How far is it to Long Beach?

To Long Beach from L.A. depends on the traffic of the day. You can make it here in as little as 15-20 minutes or as long as 45-60 minutes. Damn traffic.

You can always hit Shoreline Village, Queen Mary, Aquarium of the Pacific, 2nd Street & Belmont Shore for shopping & bars.

You can also head out to Anaheim & go to Downtown Disney for restaurants and shopping.

The Block at Orange is always good too as well as Santa Monica & Universal CityWalk.

go down to sunset, there is cool stuff there. I just back like a few weeks ago

cool stuff I got to see/do

Rodeo Dr. of course has great shopping but if you don't want to send all of your money in one trip, the Santa Monica Promenade has better prices

great bar: the powerplant (closest thing to an east coast bar I found there)

best restaurant ever: mel's diner, right down the street from the power plant

I was there on business so I didn't have much freetime, that is pretty much all I did besides hang out at friends houses.

If make it to sunset, you have to see Docs, he's the coolest muah fuah on the planet.

whenever we get to the la area we go to santa monica/malibu and ventura. one of my sisters owned a condo out in santa monica right off santa monica blvd, so we had some good times there ... and malibu is just a nice place to spend the afternoon.
the boy lives in ventura, and its always nice to go there, because its relaxing. Its a whole other world compared to Vegas.

if you get a chance to run around and drive places, you should def. check out the PCH and drive down it. even if you cant really stay long, or do much there - its still a really beautiful scene. and theres a road you can drive up from the PCH that takes you up thru the hills of LA (??) im guessing, and it drops you down somewhere in the middle of LA at like jerrys famous deli....

ok ill stop now, seeing as i dont even live in the state of california...... have fun!
