Post Some Military Benefits Have Increased

I receive this info from my Senator's Capitol update newsletter. Pretty interesting. I wasn't aware that the benefits were THAT low in the first place, but I'm glad to see that its now been raised to a decent level.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
From Senator Tiahrt...
Congress increased the maximum life insurance benefits for service members from $250,000 to $400,000; the onetime death gratuity for combat related fatalities is increased from $12,000 to $100,000 and is made retroactive to the start of the conflict in Afghanistan.
We have also put veterans' medical care as a high priority in this year's budget. The Fiscal Year 2006 budget calls for the highest funding level in history for veterans medical services, with an increase of 9 percent or $1.6 billion over last year. Since 2001, Veteran's medical care funding has increased by 40 percent.
Glad to hear about the Servicemembers Group Life Insurance (SGLI) change...I just hope that my monthly deduction does not increase (currently $16.25 for $250,000 coverage). My LES for 1-31 May 05 is still showing the deduction as SGLI for 250,000, I guess it will be a month or two before it reflects 400,000.
Just one of those reasons why my paperwork says "MAX BY LAW" instead of a specific amount
Thumbs up
For once in umpteen Legislative Sessions, the Kansas Delegates finally did something Good!
Our Citizen Military Men/Women desearved a Break for each of them and their Familys.
I can feel for this as one of My Co Business Owners in the Shopping Center is in for His Second Term with the Marine Researves in Iraq with a Wife and Three young daughters at home. Also Two of My Chapter Brothers who are in Iraq. May all of Our Men/Women Be Safe!!!!
