Smile newbie

I'm a newbie here and I would like to learn more about Tri-Sigma. What are your beliefs and values as a whole? I will also be living in the dorms my first year, can I still become a member even if I don't live in the sorority house? Also, what is involved in Rush week and what are the requirements to join this sorority?

Not a Tri-Sigma but...

Your best bet would be to check out the "Greek Life" and "Rush" forums for answers to some of your questions.

Rush is a mutual selection process meaning that not only do you choose the sorority you want to join, they must also choose you.

Good luck!

Hi there! I'm flattered at your interest in Tri Sigma. Your best bet is to contact the Panhellenic council at your school for rush info.

I know our Rush Week is September, so I'll get to meet some of the members and decide whether or not it's right for me Thanks!

Good luck on going through Formal Recruitment...Here a few bits of advice for you:

1) ALWAYS keep an open mind. You might not like a chapter so much the first day, but after that they may be a lot better and may end up being the best place for you.

2)Take a notebook with you(not in the room though!). Use the notebook to write down everything you can recall from each party so that later on in the week, you have info there to help you.

3)If you go through Recruitment with a friend(s), keep your opinions to yourself. This way you will both end up in the "right" place- you don't want to let yourself get influenced by another person. Keeping your thoughts to yourself is the best way to find your true home.

4)Don't be afraid to ask questions of your Recruitment Counselors. Many of them have been through Formal Recruitment and will be able to answer almost any question you may have.

5)I suggest not asking about money on the first day. Most Formal Recruitments have a specific day set aside for the discussion on money. Find out if this is how your Recruitment is setup. If there is no specific day for money, then I would wait until the 2nd or 3rd party to ask about dues and such. Every chapter I have heard of offers payment plans to pay for dues!

6) Get your homework done early and get A LOT of sleep the weekend prior to and the week of Recruitment. It is a long week and will need all the time you can get to relax and think about your choices!

I wish you the best of luck! Have fun with it and remember to be yourself.
