NPC Terminology
Since I don't have The Green book, I was wondering if the NPC website lists the correct, new terminology for recruitment?

I don't believe the NPC website lists new terminology but it is in the Green Book. I don't have mine right now (it's at work and I'd be happy to look anything up that you might need to know when I'm at work), and I'm not sure exactly what kind of "terminology" you're looking for, but reply to this post or PM me and I'll look up whatever you're looking for when I'm at work.

Are you looking for the new types of recruitment? or just recruitment terms in general?

Just the terms in general. I'm probably being anal retentive about this, but from what I understand "Potential New Member" is the new term for "Rushee" and "New Member" is the new term for "Pledge".
I'm an advisor for my chapter and I have a feeling they may be using the terms wrong, and I think it's important that if there are new terms that everyone is using them correctly.

You know what I find interesting? While one is no longer a pledge, but a new member, in AGD, at least, you still "pledge" the GLO and the new member pin is called the pledge pin (according to my 2003-2004 New Member Guide, anyway). I guess you can't turn new member into a verb, but I find the terminology for the pin interesting.

From the 1999 edition of The Green Book:
"Rush" was replaced with "membership recruitment";
"Rushee" was replaced with "potential member";
"Pledges" was replaced with "new members";
"Preference card" was replaced with "Membership Recruitment Acceptance".
Just as a side note, at my campus, the first three have become our first choice for terminology- I wouldn't call it rush unless I was talking to someone who has limited sorority knowledge. However, I would still use the word "preference card".
ETA: The term "suicide" in regards to Membership Recruitment Acceptance is now known as Single Intentional Preference, or SIP for short.
Although the 1999 edition of The Green Book still refers to COB, or Continuous Open Bidding, I have recently heard CR used (Continuous Recruitment). I am not sure if this is a new "official" term.

Just when I replaced "COB" for "COR," it's now "Continous Recruitment" or "CR"... but there is still COB, right? I am so confused!

In all of our manuals, ADPi refers to COB (Continuous Open Bidding) as COR (Continuous Open Recruitment).
COB and COR are the same thing--- recruitment that is not part of a formal recruitment cycle!

2005. That's the new edition that's being released this spring. It's being made available on CD Rom for the same price.
