Looks like a pledge pin just post-TKN merger time - newer (now AM) pins have the outer triangles closer in.

It is definitely old, it has a screw on backing, as compared to the current pins.

Yepper, it must be old for several reasons. Screw Back for one. I never had one and dont remember afer 39 years what the "Pledges Pins" were like back then.

I think it kind of looks similar to one that Jono sent to IHQ. Dont know if it had a scew back or not.

He may shed more light on it it when He returns from Brother Dan Degarmos Funeral. Dan Passed away after a long illness with ALS. From FIT, Beta Nu Zeta.

Had the pleasure of meeting Him one time at BN.

Jono and I were guessing it might have been some sample type Pin before the one used today came into effect.

Tom is right, this is the same as the one I donated to IHQ last year. I'm not sure what to make of this design. It has only three triangles instead of four and they're proportionately smaller. This design appears in 17 years-worth of Baird's Manuals from a graphic apparently supplied by IHQ following the merger with TKN in 1939. What's is surprising is that there's no reference to this 3-triangle pledge pin in any Paedagogus or history books, at least that I've ever seen.

The 1940 Paedagogus shows one with 4 triangles, similar to the present day AM pin.

The 1940 Baird's shows the one with 3 triangles.

One would think that IHQ simply sent a prototype graphic to Baird's, except for the fact that these pins really do exist and presumably were issued. When and for how long, I do not know.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

ZAX,
Jono

Perhaps a call to Brother Spasyk will help??? Of course, I'm guessing that somebody @ IHQ's in charge of the collection in the front lobby.

Boz, I thought about that too but George wasn't initiated until 1947 (graduated 1949), so he wouldn't have first-hand knowledge of the post merger days.

We need someone OLDER!

As for IHQ, they hardly acknowledged receipt of the pin I donated and it was nowhere in sight when I took the tour at the last G.A., nor had anyone there ever ever heard of it. Odd pins are the least of their worries.

ZAX,
Jono

I know how Jono Feels as We were there together. He and I both were a little upset. He donated a "Pledge Pin" that is like the one on ebay. An oddity, but who realy knows?

No where in sight was the BX Local Badge and "Pledge Pin" that I had to give to George S. for IHQ.

I hope that the items that were given by Locals that they asked for are saved .
When I queried an ELC who was giving the tour of HQ, He said, "Do You Want To Donate Yours"?

"Hell No, I already did and there is only one other set, and I am not going to turn lose of it"!

My thinking is, there is a Treasure Trove that needs be gone through and cataloged for display.

Since IHQ is small, and space is short, there still needs to be a catalog of what is there.

Remeber, Bodies are short there and wih an Organizatin this size, it is tough.
This is where maybe volunteers who live close would come in handy.
