My Sisters ROCK Because...
Just a different thread to talk about how much A Phi sisters ROCK. Here's my story:
Last night I went to see one of my favorite bands EVER - Duran Duran. First, my sisters rock because A CA in CA invited me down for a road trip to Sacramento to be a part of her little private DD Party - unfortunately I couldn't go, but she rocks because she instantly thought of me!
However, I went to last night's show with Jill1228 and a couple of other local alumnae sisters. We had dinner beforehand and I swear - you'd never know that Jill and I were alumnae initiates. We all bonded like women who have known each other for years! So Elaine and Robyn - thank you for showing me that sisterhood is eternal.
Then I spent the rest of the evening dancing like a spastic fool and screaming my lungs out - but so did Jill! Truly, if you can't act like a git in front of your sisters, who can you act that way around?
Later we went to see the former CA at her place, and even though I haven't seen her in almost two years, it was almost like no time at all had passed. It was amazing. I'm a little concerned about this Hello Kitty obsession of hers (she even has a HK toaster and waffle iron), but you know, because she's an A Phi, it's automatically cool.
So my sisters rock because they're goofy, they're passionate, and they make me proud every day to wear the silver and bordeaux.
Why do your sisters rock?

My sisters rock! We still WATCH for each other. SisMadly was making sure I was okay after I had my first asthma attack in CENTURIES. It was all good, NOTHING would keep me from seeing Duran Duran.
Besides, I was NOT about to go to the nearest hospital. Mr. 1228's ex-wife works there
They wanted to make sure that I got to my subway station and car okay (the 'hood where I parked my car is NOT one of the best). I called as soon as I got in my car so they wouldn't worry. (Sismadly wanted me to call Mr. 1228)
I have had wonderful times with my Alpha Phi sisters. Meetings, shopping. Trips to Whistler and to the PNE. The Duran Duran concert. (I am still hoarse today)
I don't get to see the sisters in my area enough (the GC sisters are SisMadly, Ariesrising, and YogiPhi). But I gotta tell you, my Alpha Phi sisters (the ones I met and the ones I haven't) are MUCH closer to me than my bio sister.
There are sometimes every sister needs to "check herself". They let me know when I need to be and to take it like a woman! It is done out of love and not criticism (like my bio sister). I have a bad habit of taking stuff personally and they are helping me kill that habit.
They are accepting of me. They help me learn and are willing to answer questions. I feel like I can approach them and talk to them about anything. My Alpha Phi sisters got my back.
OK I am rambling, but the bottom line is you all rock and I am forever grateful.

My sisters ROCK because even though Sistermadly had to be all responsible and grown up and not take a road trip down to Sacramento to actually MEET Duran Duran with me, I still had three other ALPHA PHI sisters come along for the fun, including one I asked at the last minute.
Who can you call on if you can't call on your sisters???
(p.s. I just got my voice back yesterday, but no way am I getting too old for this stuff!)

I LOVE this thread! Great idea, C!
My fellow alum sisters ROCK, because we are there for each other no matter what. A group of about eight Eta Theta alums tray to meet at least once a month to hang out, have dinner, catch up over drinks. While in college, some of us weren't that close. In fact, some of the girls weren't even active in the house at the same time. We laugh, cry, vent our frustrations, talk about the men in our lives, and have good old-fashioned girl talk. We try and invite more and more alum each month. Next up, VEGAS!
I'm also the Recruitment Advisor at SFSU and my collegiate sisters ROCK because they've worked their butts off to bring Eta Theta from a chapter on the brink of getting shut down to the strongest house on campus and one of the strongest in the Pacific Northwest. They are so dedicted and loyal to the sisterhood and I couldn't be more proud.
Thank goodness for ALPHA PHI for bringing these amazing women into my life- women that I probably wouldn't have befriended on my own. These are friends for life.

I got another one...
My sisters rock. The other day I got a note from a sister in Kansas and her "niece" thanking me for the TAKE HEART bracelets I sent them. In the note, the niece said something like "I want to be an Alpha Phi when I grow up" (something like that)
I am sneaking time to read this at work and damn near lost it
I got that warm fuzzy feeling
Midwesterngirl68 you are teaching that kid very well!
a CA in CA keep me in mind next time there is an opportunuity like that. In the 2 years I have been working at my current job, I only called in sick once. This woulda been a good reason to call in deadly sick!

My sisters rock because...
...as I waited for their COI to begin at Eta Delta, the young woman who hosted the event, Erica, was the DAUGHTER of two high school friends...AND another sister, Megan, was a first grader in the class I taught right out of college...Alpha Phi comes full circle...Age made no diffrence whatsoever...We all laughed, cried and smiled at the small world.

My Sisters Rock Because...
I've had to fly home on an emergency. My mother is lying in a hospital bed, where I'm spending hours everyday sitting at her bedside and feeling useless and hopeless. BUT, my dear sister "SisterMadly" left me a message on my cell phone telling me she was thinking of me, sending me good thoughts, and hoping my mother is okay.
So, my mother won't likely be okay. But my sisters will be by my side regardless. That is what sisterhood is all about - not just for the good times (the DD concerts, roadtrips, gossip & giggles)... it's about the support we give each other when we really need it. My biological family is a total mess, but my AP sisters are there to hold me up.
Thanks C. Appreciate it.
