Sober mixers...

I know that there's tons of threads for this, but...too bad. We have to be sober at our mixers and exchanges. That's why we've pretty much done away with the doing nothing kind of stuff. We go to hockey games and bowling and stuff like that. Anyway, I want to, and the sorority girls want to bring this stuff back (it's been a while since we've done one). Thing is, the soberness. We have 2 in a week and a half and possibly a third a month later and possibly another one after that. I need some good ideas that will make us look pimp and keep the ladies happy. Anyone got something good for me?

if you want to look pimp, think of what'll make the ladies happy, and they'll love you.

That's a good idea.

My idea may not be as cool, but my fraternity and a sorority paired up for a community service event and in return the organiztion we helped through a pizza party for us. Unfortunately, pizza never came on the arranged date, but we managed to keep the ladies entertained by playing board games. Pictionary was a lot of fun! We rescheduled for tomorrow night so hopefully the ladies all come back .

We once had a slip & slide party

We put a slip and slide out in the yard...and that was pretty much the extent of our planning for the party

It was only fifty degrees out, so basically the pledges and a few brothers did it and the girls took pictures with their cell phones

We were stuck in a sober social probation for a while, and our best event was taking the girls out to a comedy club. Which was in a mall, which they also enjoyed alot as well.

as dorky as it sounds...roller skating. I almost broke my insulin pump and my hip because I ate it hardcore, but it was good times, plus couple skate was super cute because the pledges had to skate together and the actives had to too and then change(pledge/pledge, active/pledge). Plus there was an arcade, so the boys were very happy to play DDR.

Perhaps a picnic in the park. There are some parks that won't allow alcohol. Have a softball game. BBQ. Play random games you used to play as a kid.

And I second the roller skating thing. Same goes for ice skating if you are near a rink.

we had a skate party this semester for everyone on campus. all the greeks that went paid $4 and the non-greeks didn't have to pay. it was a sober event although some of the alpha sigma alpha girls there were drunk. we had a good time and got some of the non-greeks interested in the sororitys and fraternitys.

We are doing "Powder Puff Football." Not really the type of thing where you would get to know people well but it sonds fun. For those that dont know its where the girls play football and the guys are the cheerleaders

all of our mixers were sober in my chapter. we would always have a theme for a mixer and then when the mixer was over we were free to drink. we arent allowed to have anything sponsored with our name to have alcohol at it. all the fraternities knew this and were ok with it. we did a casino night, a gone camping mixer (we didnt actually go camping, we just did activities that related to camping at the sae house--very fun!!), and some other mixers. it was nice because not everyone likes to drink and the girls that didnt enjoyed not being the only ones not drinking because noone could. then after it was over we changed (no drinking in letters for us either) and whoever wanted to drink could drink. it was fun though and made the mixer more mixed instead of all the girls together and all the guys together because we made activites to do.

We had a "graffiti" social. We all had to wear plain white shirts and bring sharpies (or other permanent markers). It was a large fraternity & 2 smaller sororities. After some ice breakers, we had a great time writing messages on each others' shirts. When I see my shirt, I can't help but laugh.

Some of the fraternities here have done "Grab a Date" social. Its where you give the guys and hour to find a date and take them to where you are going to be. The movies (the cheap ones, $2 here) or to dinner or a something. We have also have casino night, mardi gras, and other theme parties that are sober mixers.

our advisors come to most of our mixers and our risk management policy is so strict that underage girls just cant drink. We had a foam party recently at senor frogs with a dazed and confused theme. We also have done bowling parties and lots of grab a dates. Its easier to take responsibility for your date and having them not drink if you choose them so try some date functions.

You could turn the different drink in every room type party sober. Then have a different activity in each room. You could also have a mini-contest mixer where you have little competitions or have the girls wear their swimming suits under their clothes and have a water-fight with a balloon toss.
Maybe a beach theme where you have someone teach Hula Dancing and have a limbo contest -remember the Lei's.
I know that these totally seem childish, but they can be really fun and more memorable than the typical mixer....

A more adult theme could be like an Arabian nights type thing where you hang cloth from the inside of the room to make it like a tent, get a bunch of cushions to sit on, a belly dance teacher, and a hookah if possible. The Hookah will totally make up for the lack of alcohol and you could keep it in a corner where it won't bother people who don't want to do it.
