I don't which is worse - that Nelson Mandela lost a son to AIDS, or that an entire continent is besieged by a deadly illness and no one seems to care.

The health minister in South AFrica still hasn't sent a tender for HIV retroviral drugs. Still doesn't dispel the fact that more peopel die of AIDS in Africa in 8 days than the estimated victims of the tsunami. As a world, we don't do anywhere near enough for the HIV/AIDS disaster. As a human race, we're bloody lucky that we have preventative measures to prevent contracting HIV- its a scandal that so many of the most vulnerable are ignorant of these measures, or are unable to employ them.

The numbers grow every minute and every second of the day. No one cares and it makes my heart hurt that beautiful people are dying here and in our homeland.

That was so powerfully sad. Most of them got the disease from their husbands who then left when they were diagnosed. The last few thought the disease was a result of witchcraft. Incredibly Sad.

Yeah and a lot of them don't even know/realize it was from their husband. The witchcraft ones were extremely sad.

That was really sad ... especially this one

"My husband is a really funny guy. People love him - especially women. I can't blame them, though. I fell for him too. We both tested positive for HIV a while ago. But he doesn't care. 'When it's time to die, it's time to die,' my husband says. He continues to drink beer and sleep around with all the women he can find. They don't seem to care either. I don't understand that attitude."

wow.
