Question New Recruitment Style ... any ideas?

Hello All My name is Sheena and I am now the vice-president of the University of TX at Dallas' Panhellenic Council. As of this Fall, UTD is changing to partially-structured recruitment as opposed to the Formal Recruitment that we have been doing for 10+ years. While both sororities on campus are a little nervous about it, we are all really excited about the new opportunities that this could bring. Anyhoo, the point of this post is to ask if anyone has any good ideas for PR for recruitment (the events would need to start in January and continue through the summer and into the first week of school in August), or a good tshirt for the PNM's to receive once they are pledged into their respective groups. Thank for any help that you can be!

NPC Love,
Sheena~

PS: SOOOOOO sorry for the uber long post!

Could you fill in the details a little more?

With only two Sororitys the change may not be to hard. Remember, it is still a level playing field.

T-Shirt:

Front AGD in Colors.

Back, 100 % Alpha Gamma Delta on Top.

Flag, C of A, or Badge center.

Until The Day I Die
Beneath it.

Cool

Okay, well to fill in the details ... we are going from a fully structured recruitment to a partially structured. In the Fall our recruitment will go from 3 days with both groups hosting the same number of parties, with a Preference and a Bid Day: to 2 weeks with each group having 3 days each week to have "parties". Preference will be the same, as will Bid Day. Panhellenic Council will now play more of a marketing role in order to promote all the events. So basically this is more of a COB style recruitment with a few more rules. Thanks Again!

Love and Loyalty

From one AGD to another I just wanted to say good luck with your recruitment. Some cute t-shirt ideas might be...
Alpha Gamma- printed like the Coca Cola style saying always Always Alpha Gamma like Always Coca Cola, or this past semster we did a song and dance to Sweet Home Alabama and changed it to Sweet Home Alpha Gamma, I know several chapters do this but our shirts were cute!!! Tiffanys style always is real big amongst girls.
I hope this helps a little bit, once again good luck

Good luck with the changeover!

- Make sure your websites are up-to-date, including a Greek Life or Panhellenic site for PNMs.

- Be creative in your party events. Make sure to emphasize what is unique about your chapter.

- For one of your parties, do an on-campus community service project with the potentials to get them interested in your service. (Ie, make cards or gifts for people in a hospital you volunteer at... we painted flower pots to give to new Habitat for Humanity [our national service project] families.)

- You might want to do a Panhellenic swap - have a social with the other sorority! It would probably strengthen your sisterhood and raise your spirits before recruitment.

Peace and love, Marly

I'm not really sure how the Partially Structured Recruitment things work... are members able to invite unaffiliated women to events? If so, make it a chapter goal to have each member in your sorority invite at least one person. It can be someone they have met through class, or something like that.

Hey - Just wanted to say it sounds like an awesome, relaxed way to recruit for two sororities! Each sorority sister would be able to put studies in their studying and jobs and family over recruitment!

While I was at Pitt, we experimented with an unstructured recruitment and by the time I left, we had gone back to a formal, structured recruitment. I would say the most important decisions and choices you could make would be to clear on the Panhel's rules and requirements of sisters and pnms. Like, how much communication can take place between sisters and pnms during the two weeks of recruitment? How long is the silent period, how can you be sure that each pnms has gone to the two parties - and if these concerns apply to your campus since you do have two sororities. We had 11 sororities recruiting, so the unstructured recruitment didn't benefit all chapters equally when over 300 pnms were rushing.

Let us know how it goes! P.S. - are you a big commuter school if you're in Dallas proper?

First: HEY Theta Pam! I've been a GC Member forever, but I thought that I might use it to get some PR ideas for recruitment. If you have anything in mind that you would like to see NPC do, then I would love to hear about it!

Second: Does anyone have any ideas for events that can be held over the spring semester and over the summer in order to promote NPC? Thanks for the help!
