Unhappy Emergency - I don't know what to do

Hi, I need advice. I currently am taking a year off from school, so I have been Transferring/NonContinuing status for the past semester. During the past 3 months until about 3 weeks ago, I hadnt spoken to my family or been home at all. (Things are all better with that, thats not the issue except for the fact that my mom didnt forward any of my mail to me)

I received a letter from Headquarters today saying that I have been officially deactivated from DPhiE for not paying my fees by Nov.1st and that I was sent a letter on Sept.14th telling me this would happen. I never got this letter and had no idea there was a deadline, so now am I trapped?? I dont know anyone in my chapter who has gone through this and the whole time I was Member at Large last year, I was never confronted with a situation like this, so I dont know whether it is worthwhile to contact HQ or not!!

Does HQ reverse deactivation??? Help!

I think that you should contact national first thing tomorrow and explain the situation. Tell them you want to pay your dues and will send a check immediately. The phone number should be in the letter that you received. If not, the website has phone numbers you can use here:

Good luck!

Sorry to crash, but I think that you'll find that most EO's are more than happy to help you retain your membership. You may have to pay off any unpaid dues/debts, but in the long run, they really do want to keep you around.

Good luck!!

This happened to one of the sisters from my chapter when she went on exchange one year. For whatever reason there was a mixup and she was "deactivated". She called the office and everything was fixed.

Hey babe --

I wouldn't worry to much. Its probably something that a phone calls and a check immediately sent can repair. (And I say that with absolutely no knowledge of how Nationals treats this situation.) At my company, we give our clients three months to pay fees and bills before we get mean and six months before we start moving to break the contract with them and stopping working for them. D Phi E loves having strong, independent sisters who even deactiviation cannot drive out of a sorority suite. <3

See you in January!

As most have said, contact HQs, and explain the situation. It'll probably just require you pay any $$ you owe to the chapter and such. I'd also contact your chapter and tell them that you received this letter, and that you're making the payment to become reinstated. Requests for deactivation come from two places...the actual sister or the chapter.

Good luck!
