Sun Shine Committee
Hey Girls,
I am new to this thing just to let ya'll know. I am a DZ at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches TX. Our chapter is going to try the Sun Shine Committee in the spring, and I was just wondering if any of ya'lls chapter has this, and what ideas have worked well for your chapter. I would greatly appreciate ya'lls ideas! Thanks so much.
DZ Love and Mine,
BlakieDZ

I'm not sure what this is, either. Sorry I can't be of more help!

We have had a Sunshine chair as long as i can remember. They recognize sister's birthdays at chapter and send sympathy flowers to other greek and other organizations when they have had a tradgedy (death in a member's family etc.) or thank you cards to people/organizations. Also, they hand out DZ Dolls and Dizzy DZ at every chapter.

We had something similar to that...it was the Encouragement Chair or something. She always left nice little notes and inspriational cards in our mailboxes, and coordinated the signing of cards and stuff when the situation called for it. I think Sunshine Committee is a cuter name, though.
Some ideas:
*Write welcome-back letters to hand out to sisters at the first meeting after winter break, or spring break. Ours were always just photocopied on cute paper, but they were a nice little touch.
*Give a "DZ Of The Week" award to the DZ you catch doing something really nice or cool for another sister.
I'm trying to think up some more for you! Good luck!

What are these? I feel like I'm so behind! The Sunshine Comm. sounds like an awesome idea,my chapter doesn't have one. (Hmm..something to start for next semester!)

During the week is a sister does somethign nice for you or special then you secretly tell the sunshine chair and she will announce it at chapter- it's such a nice surprise to get one and it makes you feel good when someone is suprised that you gave them one. Dizzy DZ's are just for fun if you catch a sister do something funny (like mispronounce a word, say or do something ditsy, or fall down in front of everyone) then they get a Dizzy DZ and everyone usually laughs at chapter. It's just something fun we do at the end of chapter to boost morale and leave everyone with the warm fuzzies!

We had a commitee that was in charge of moral boosting stuff, but I don't remember what it was called. They were in charge of the greatest grade jar (sisters who made good grades on test or papers put it in the jar and at the end of the meeting, one was drawn.), turtle hugs (little memos that sisters would write to other sisters that would be read to the chapter at the end of meetings), sending flowers in sympathy, remembering birthdays, etc.

These are awesome ideas! The Delta Upsilon (Marshall Univ.) chapter has a bulletin board in their house in which sisters can post letters, notes, etc, thanking other sisters.
